Today, we are confronting several existential challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the intensification of deeply rooted social injustice, and economic anxiety – all at once. In this “crucible moment” for humanity, each one of us is challenged to rise above the ordinary - to do the extraordinary. And it is precisely in these moments, that we are reminded of what an incredible honor and privilege it is to work with each other as ONE SAP across the globe as an extraordinary force multiplier of authentic, values-driven, positive action. This first publication is a celebration of you - it brings together several of these actions that showcases how you at SAP are serving the needs of our customers, our communities. our partners and our colleagues by leading with purpose as an exemplar, and as an enabler. LEADING WITH PURPOSE IN A FRAGILE INTERDEPENDENT WORLD. There can be no doubt that we are living in exceptionally turbulent times. The dire, existential urgency of the COVID-19 pandemic has cast a long shadow over our once open and seemingly prosperous society. We have had to close borders and shut down businesses, schools, and social centers – separating people physically, economically, and socially. "COVID-19 exposed the lack of resiliency in our supply chains. More than 100 billion tons of raw materials enter the system each year and add to the fragility and enormous waste generated through overconsumption. We require sustainable, holistic solutions to fix these system-wide issues. The circular economy addresses many of these imbalances by incorporating the reusability of products flowing through the supply chain to reduce problems of waste and pollution. This revolutionary approach to integrating sustainability from the beginning of product development has an indirect impact on public health, education, and the spread of disease within communities built around participating nodes of the chain. Implementing these sustainable solutions has the potential to unlock $4.5 trillion in economic growth while promoting water and nutrient security, reducing carbon emissions by 45 percent, and reducing waste by 90 percent – all of which ultimately help address this century’s biggest global threat to health: climate change."

SAP + GLOBAL CITIZEN UNITE FOR OUR FUTURE End COVID, end injustice, and fight for the world we want. On Saturday, June 27, SAP joined Global Citizen, the European Commission, top artists, and global leaders, including SAP’s own Christian Klein to Unite for Our Future. Together, SAP Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Corporate Affairs, SAP Global Diversity and Inclusion Office, Office of the President, NA and the purpose-driven marketing team mobilized quickly in support of the Global Citizen Partnership.
As part of SAP’s global response, we launched a new partnership with Global Citizen, the world's largest movement of action takers and impact makers dedicated to ending extreme poverty by 2030. This partnership gives SAP a global stage to share our commitments to inclusive education, economic opportunity for underrepresented communities, and social justice reform.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION BLACK LIVES MATTER. In light of recent protests sparked by racial inequality and police brutality, SAP is creating opportunities and resources to help our employees drive change.
SAP has committed $2M USD to support organizations dedicated to equality and justice, and to help provide better opportunities for our undeserved communities. As part of this commitment, we will be making a $700,000 USD donation in support of the Equal Justice Initiative, an organization committed to social justice reform. We are also launching a $300,000 USD employee match campaign for organizations dedicated to combating racism and making a positive impact in the Black community.
US colleagues can donate here. in support of the Advancement Project, Black Visions Collective, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. In addition to providing immediate relief, we are committing $1M USD through 2021 to support organizations focused on serving Black communities, small businesses and social enterprises with digital skills programs. This will include employee volunteer opportunities to get involved.
