Inbetween Magazine isn’t your typical art magazine. You also might have noticed it isn’t quite as large as an art gallery. We’ve made the perfect concoction of a mini-mag featuring the artist of a gallery show and a fullblown art magazine. We don’t want y’all missing out on anything, so we’ve compacted a ton of art, music, and other trendy stuff happening into a quick and easy read. Don’t think too much about it because as much as we’re trying to simply our lives, we want to help you simplify yours.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA

LEAR Florida born and bred surfer/artist. Her realistic artworks can be seen with her naturally whimsical paintings that furthermore lead straight to her whimical mind. Her work has graced clothing, galleries, retail stores, and magazines.

Growing up on the beach her entire life has molded her into your typical beach bum. As we sit down I notice that there’s still sand residue on her feet. Like I said; typical.

“I’ve found that when people who see my work for the first time look at me and look back at my stuff and have a questioning look on their face [haha], almost like ‘wait, what?

You paint?’” Lear stated when asked about first impressions from viewers.

Although she’s our first feature artist of Inbetween Magazine, she has her third a show in Laguna Beach, California at Sunrise Surf Shop.

You’re still young, what do you plan on doing with your life?

Well, I don’t really have an exact plan, but I do know that traveling is one of my top priorities. I have been fortunate enough to have already traveled to some pretty amazing places, but because of that experience, I know that there’s an insane amount of beautiful world and interesting people I have yet to see and meet.

When did you first get into art?

Since I was little. I just always drew. It was a way of documenting what was going on. As soon as I was done doing something, I would want to go home and draw it.

Whether it was climbing trees or all of the stuff I was doing – like cartoons and stuff I was watching. It has always been an outlet for me ever since I was little. So when surfing came into my life, it was all I wanted to do. I’ve been by a beach my entire life so, I consider it home that what inspires much of my work.

Where do you get inspiration for you art?

I believe we are made up of the sea. We lived in water before birth, and after we are born, we sweat salt. It only makes sense that human beings are apart of the ocean. I go to the sea for everything, therefore, the sea is me. Traveling expands my imagination and shows me how beautiful nature and its organic forms are without and human changes. I find my inspiration from the ocean and the many treasures it holds.

From sea life, to shells and stones tossed and tumbled, traveling here and there, just as I do. There is beauty with simplicity, and all in the details. I create simple, yet complex stories without any words. I share stories of a traveler with lines in space. Nothing overbearing and flashy. Simple.
