geoVR pilot exhibition in Jærmuseet Vitengarden We are proud to have launched pilot geoVR - a project that is among the largest on the field of Virtual Reality! At the moment the exhibition includes ten countries, 26 locations, hundreds of hotspots, 360 photos, 360 videos, 360 drone filming, amazing 3D scenes, laser scanned surroundings, texts and eventually voice acting in several languages. Our world premiere event was a success, with a great feedback. During the next six months will thousands more get the chance to visit geoVR virtual exhibiton. The installation will be open for exploration the following 6 months in Vitengarden in Nærbø, and during 2017 the project team will develop an international version of the virtual reality platform.

GEOfood seminar Magma Geopark hosted a succesful Sustainable food seminar in Grand Hotel Egersund 24th of May following the final meeting of GEOfood project on the 25th of May. The first seminar day was open for local and international participants and during the day we got an insight to some of the local and national actions under the umbrella of sustainable food production. We heard about Natural Food Production by Svein Narve Veshovda, about endemic bees in Sokndal by Morten Svanes, about county sustainable food production strategy by Eli M. Serigstad and moving towards geology and food, about geology impact on top soil by Clemens Reimann, finishing with a presentation from Olav Albert Christophersen from NMBU about Sustainable food. Grand Hotel Egersund provided the event with quality meeting facilities and first class lunch and dinner made with local ingredients.

The second day of the event was for the international guests from the GEOfood partner countries; Denmark, Finland and Iceland. During the day, the outcomes of the project in every partner geoparks were presented and next steps to continue the food projects were discussed. More news on the food project plans will follow! Amazing to be part of an active and enthusiastic area with delicious food culture, thank you for everyone who participated on the seminar days!
