Magma Geopark updates on projects and events in May 2016

GEOfood project meeting in May 2016 Welcome to join us for an informative and tasty two days concentrating on food! Magma Geopark is organising a food seminar and a GEOfood project meeting 24th to 25th of May. The program includes insights on geology and food, local food production, sustainability in food production and information about GEOfood project and future continuity of the project. The second day of the meeting is the closing meeting for GEOfood project. Did you get interested and want to know more? Events coming up on the Jøssingfjord dance terrace Magma Geopark has rebuilt a wooden dance terrace located in Jøssingfjord, Sokndal. The wooden platform can be used for place to have a picnic, enjoy the view or small scale events. Historically there has been a similar terrace located in the same point. When the Jøssingfjord valley was a place where power plant and mine workers lived, there was dancing events organised on this wooden "plattning". To celebrate the opening, two musical events will be organised in Jøssinfjord in May. The official opening will be happening on the 22nd of May, with harmonica/guitar duo Kjell Arvid and Alf. See the Facebook event for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/1126101017434102/ Inspired by nature - classical concert with musicians Jolanda Ojanen (flute) and Iida-Alina Poijarvi (cello) will be performing in the same location 28th of May. New project application: GEOmuseum GEOmuseum project would contribute to developing four museum concepts which would share the geological and cultural heritage of the Nordic Countries. Magma Geopark and partners have applied for Nordisk Kulturfond to support the development of the four GEOmuseums storytelling, designing the materials and appearances, promotional materials, exhibition web page, app and opening events. The partners in the possible project will be from Norway, Faroe Islands,


Greenland and Iceland.
