Employment 2013 - Present
Part II Architectural Assistant, Lewis and Hickey Architects, Nottingham Since joining L&H, I’ve gained valuable experience on various schemes, ranging from feasibility studies for competitive bids, to taking an active and prominent role in planning applications, as well as gaining further knowledge on detailed design and practice management. I’ve gained contract administration and job running experience, liaising with various clients, consultants, and contractors on a daily basis. This is a challenge I have enthusiastically welcomed as it is providing an excellent base for my Part III course, as well as my career development. I’ve increased my knowledge and competence on a number of CAD platforms, most notably Revit, in which I’ve independently created a working model for a scheme that is currently under construction (Schluter Systems). This project is forming the basis for my Part III case study, and is due to reach practical completion in March 2015.
2010 – 2011
Project Assistant, Alliance Boots, Nottingham Working as an Implementation Coordinator within the recruitment department supporting the roll-out of a new payroll system, consolidating four current payroll systems into one. I helped to lead a large team through a programme of significant change, coordinating various parties to work towards a strict time plan, as well as training various users on the new system, whilst providing support to all teams throughout the implementation phases and beyond.
2010
Architectural Assistant, Anderson Architecture, Sydney I worked closely with the lead architect in this small firm of four on a range of projects, from small alterations and additions, to designing new-build, large family homes. Working within such a small practice gave me the opportunity to take on broad responsibility. Work undertaken included: planning applications, project detailing, heritage impact statement, creating both 3D and physical models, site surveys, photomontages and internal image rendering.

Fourth Year | Design research unit
An opportunity to explore architecture within a more artistic setting, this unit focussed on the relationship between landscape and architecture. Starting by studying a known landscape, my project centred on quarries and the process of quarrying, while exploring the notion of perspective. The resulting finished product was a ‘thinking machine’ demonstrating the themes investigated throughout the study.
