Collective Experiment exists because we believe that fashion’s throw away mentality needs reprogramming. Easy access to low-cost clothing has fuelled a passion for excessive consumption. We aim to challenge the current fashion system, by inviting you to get hands-on customising your own clothes. We have set up the Collective Experiment for creative women who are fed up of being told what to wear and who value high-quality clothing that reflects their unique personality. Clothing that is beautiful, timeless and meaningful.

‘We need to work together to truly create change.’

Sustainable fashion is part of a growing design philosophy of which the aim is to create a circular system, considering human impact on the environment and social responsibility. At Collective Experiment we want to make sure we focus on creating high quality garments that you love, which will out-live fast fashion trends. The clothing industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, this gives us a huge responsibility to create change within the industry. The issues surrounding sustainability within the fashion industry are huge, and changing this isn’t something that we can do on our own, we need to work together to truly create change. Sustainable fashion is often identified as fashion made from organic cotton. At Collective Experiment we recognise that our responsibility goes

much further than this. We hope that our influence will make a difference. We want our customers to be proud of what they wear, not just because their clothes look great, but because they had a part to play in making them. We understand clothing that is designed by you has the possibility to reflect your wondeful personality. By encouraging co-design we allow meaningful relationships to be formed between you and your clothing. We don’t claim to know all of the answers to the problems, but we want to work with you to find the solution and fight for change. We invite you to join our Collective Experiment. Get together with like minded women and share this experience with them, teaching and learning from eachother.

Every item in this collection started life as a continuous rectangle of fabric. During the design process, time was taken to eliminate fabric wastage by integrating pattern cutting into the design stage. Each pattern is carefully considered to discover the best design solution, using every inch of the fabric. These garments fit together like a puzzle.

natural resources in the world. It also requires far less water and care than Cotton, making it a popular alternative.

You might be surprised to hear that Bamboo can be used to make fabric! This isn’t the same Bamboo that Pandas eat, this Bamboo is called Moso Bamboo. The fibres found in Bamboo have brilliant qualities, it is antibacterial, breathable, strong, versatile, super soft, comfortable and lightweight. This specific type of Bamboo is a super-fast growing plant; it can grow up to 4 feet in one day! It is one of the most easily renewed

Bamboo has a natural resistance to pests, so similar to Organic Cotton Bamboo fabric uses no fertilisers, or nasty chemicals to help the plant grow. One of the main advantages of Bamboo over Organic Cotton is that it requires very little water whereas Cotton is one of the thirstiest crops around. Cotton needs to be replanted each year, this leads to soil erosion. However, Bamboo grows in a similar way to grass, meaning no additional planting or cultivation is needed, preventing erosion of the soil. Bamboo

also contains a much higher amount of biomass per acre than Cotton, converting a large amount of carbon-dioxide into oxygen! Super soft with a beautiful drape and glowing sheen, Bamboo has a lot of similar qualities to luxury fabrics such as Silk and Cashmere, but at a much more affordable price! This plant is one of the fastest growing and most eco-friendly plants around.
