unwhite {porcelain art + more}
{introduction}
The process of penwork on porcelain is a lengthy one, but is also time that allows you to take something that blank and make it beautiful. And unwhite. Penwork involves creating a pattern, transferring the pattern onto porcelain using graphite paper, mixing the dry paint with oil, dipping the nip pen, and making one careful stroke at a time before firing. Goldwork is similar except it must all be freehanded. Graphite messes up the gold in the kiln. Gold firing is usually done once, while the paint can be fired many times.
