Between Here and The Spirit World The past two years have been transformative in so many ways. At one point I decided I would bury my head in work and try to create as much beauty with my art as I could, but life had other plans. The loss of my father in 2020, and then the loss of my friend, mentor and glass artist Benjamin Moore in 2021 had a profound effect on me. Benjamin was like a second father to me. He supported and nurtured me early on, and I worked with him for 25 years. This loss was devastating and confusing. It felt way too soon to lose this dear friend who taught me so much about glass, art, food, music and life. The loss of these people in my life caused me to reﬂect in new ways. Realizing that the time we have in this world is limited and it is precious. These connections that were vital are no longer there and now I must have the conﬁdence and courage to carry on and be the example of who they were and what they taught me. Traver Gallery is pleased to present Between Here and the Spirit World, a new exhibition by Preston Singletary, On view April 7-30, 2022. In this new body of work, Preston reflects on the notion of time and the preciousness of life. In the past two years, Preston lost two of his closest mentors, his father Preston Singletary Sr, and his close friend, artist Benjamin Moore. Preston shares, "These connections that were vital are no longer there, and now I must have the conﬁdence and courage to carry on and be the example of who they were and what they taught me. With this exhibition, I am celebrating these individuals and reflecting on their impact on my life and art". We are incredibly proud to share this important exhibition with you, our collectors, and friends.
