Nowadays we are facing the worst humanitarian crisis of modern history. Everyday hundreds of people run away from their homes looking for a safe place to stay. Some of them come to Europe to find protection. The cities are the place where all these different cultures, ideas and religions come together. In order to solve this problem, why don’t we transform the Colonia Güell into a shelter for all these people who need a home?
Nave abierta Professor : Alfred Linares/Marta Domenech/ Taller Tematic II The aim of this project is to highlight three different and singular points of activity into this industrial enclosure: the marketplaze and two others that are located inside the wall that surround the Colonia Güell. The existing factories are used to create secondary paths that flow through the space and connect these different activities. The idea is to blurry the boundary between interior and exterior and create an intermediate space where all these ways of living and thinking, religions and cultures are mixed and coexist.

The structure of the existing factories is preserved and the enclosure is what changes in each one of them depending on the atmosphere or activity that happens inside.

In order to enhance this existing factories the stair cores are taken out of them. They are new devices and artifacts on themselves. 12

2016
This proposal is a rehabilitation project for the old Palau d’esports Municipal de Barcelona. It is transformed into the municipal and public library of the city. The main idea of the project is to keep the center of the old stadium as the center of the project to remember the building’s past. People sit and study on the old stadium stands that surround this center. This way, while entering the library, people come into this space and are surrounded by others as many years before the athletes felt while playing the matches.
Library Professor : Jordi Adell / VI Project Keeping the center as a void means that the main activities happen on both sides of the building. This provides them with light, ventilation and the possibility of being outside. The principal studying spaces are located in new platforms at different levels that come out of the old stadium structure. Finally, the roof is another important element as it has different filters to create different lights and atmospheres into the library.

Paral·lel Street is a crack in the city of Barcelona. It is a road that was opened to connect the city to its harbor. It is placed parallel to the Ecuator and it breaks the grid of the Example and the old town. It was a place for leisure and shows that existed since the 19th century until the decade of the 70s. Nowadays it is a road axis located in a troubled spot between different urban grids and surrounded by the neighborhoods of Poble Sec and Raval.

Profesores: Eduard Bru / Conxita Balcells Taller Tematic I There is a huge difference between this street and the different environments that surround it. While Palal·lel is a 40 m wide street with tall buildings, the neighborhoods around it have smaller buildings and narrower streets, more related to the human scale. This makes it an uncomfortable road and it is important then to blurry this crack into the city. The project tries to achieve it by creating smaller environments in two points of this road, public housing for refugees and a cultural equipment.

The beauty lies in the duality. The fortress and its history is the solid and dense centre, and everything else that revolves around it is ethereal, light and dynamic. Three curtains remind us of the sails that once waved. They organize the space and generate the different atmospheres, activities and sensorial experiences that this artistic temple requires. 40
