‘Since I was a child I was attracted by art and drawings, infact I choose the artistic high school whit focus in architecture, in Salerno. Then I moved to Naples to study architecture at the University. In these years I made several experiences while collaborating with private architecture firms, the university itself and the municipality of Naples. That gave me the opportunity to approach architectural work from different points of view. I gratuated in June 2018 with a master’s degree thesis regarding the problem of depopulation of italian internal areas, in contrast to overcrowding of big cities and touristic regions. I love architecture, from the small scale to the big one, from pure volumes to details. I like to play with shapes and graphic to better represent every idea and every project. Currently, I’m looking for new exciting and creative experiences to work and grow as an Architect.’

SENSITIVE CONTEXTS:
CENTOLA
Medieval village of San Severino di Centola Thesis, supervisor Prof. M. Losasso My thesis project focused on the problem of depopulation of the internal areas. I worked on a case study about the medieval village of San Severino di Centola. This wonderful little village was completely abandoned by his inhabitants in the middle of '900. Now is almost completely in ruins, needing an important and expensive work of restoration. My project is about the intervention needed before the restoration of its buildings, in order to permit access and safe fruibility of the village. This places offers an incredible rural and authentic experience, immersed in nature anenriched by beautiful landscapes. My work focuses on two different areas: the Basilica's area
(heart of the village) and the path from the brick bridge (originally composed by two big truss) to the village, with its natural area beneath. The idea is to generate a naturalistic promenade from the bridge to the village, configurating an a new acces to the disabitated village, making it alive again. The approach was the same for both areas: the preservation of the natural environment and the historical context were the main goals. To obtain that, every integration and every intervent were designed to be completely reversible and removable. The materials used, mainly steel and wood, are compatible with those of the preexistences, with the latter completely a Km 0.

Collage _ Gentrification
To propose new shapes of sustainable tourism is a really important issue, in this moment. Italy is the second nation in Europe for number of tourist (after Spain), with most of them concentrating in only fifty cities. Therefore, cities are overcrowded by tourists and are unable to manage them. Services (transport, energy forniture and garbage) are saturated, generating disruptions for both citizens and tourists. An extreme example of such phaenomenon is Venice, where there is one citizen every 40 tourists. Venice population is now lower than it was after the big plague in the '600. Decongesting the flow of tourism from the "art cities" to the smaller, but equally interesting, cultural and historical sites, will improve the liveability of cities like Rome, Florence and Venice, while enhancing the immense anthropological, cultural, historical and natural heritage of internal areas.

BECOMING AN UTOPIA:
OTHURTZ
City of Scampia (NA) In collaboration with Ciro Priore e Orazio Nicodemo The Othurtz is a requalification project of Franz Di Salvo's Vele (sails), the symbol of Scampia (a district in the northern side of Naples), famous for its crime and degradation problems, which testifies the failure of modern mega structures and commuter district. The debate between those who puts the Vele in the center of the neighborhood problems and those who recognize a certain architectural value in them, resolved in the choice by the municipality of Naples of demolishing three out of four Vele. Leaving only one of the Vele, the currently empty lot, amplifies its features: the recognized imprint on the landscape, the clear identity that it raises on who lives in it,
potential of being a public resource, arise obvious parallels with a mountain. Transform the Vela into a true mountain, bend the paper to create a third dimension: this is the main goal. The mountain will be build using debris resulting from the demolition of the other three Vele, not only to achieve a considerable economic saving but, above all, to give a strong symbolic act: we do not want to demolish and forget the Vele, but rather to make it a fundamental and essential part of the new face of Scampia. The new volumetric capacity is a prerequisite to disclose the Vela to new and more public functions, making it a basin of attraction for the neighborhood.

Perspective section of the "mountain"
An important role is played by the choice of the functions of the mountain: auditorium, library, cinema, gym and disco. Placed into large volumes made of reinforced concrete, connected to the Vela via truss tunnels, such spaces achieve a structural function while being hidden under the mountain itself. The truss system is inspired by mega-structures, such as bridges or dams, and it provides an evocative volumetric play, shifting from narrow and elongated spaces to wide environments. Such volumes are inspired by natural designs, like cave trails or anthills. Starting from this natural suggestion and to create a contrast with the organic shape of the outside mountain, we used geometric abstraction to restore pure forms and lines. Our project aims to return the Vela to the inhabitants of Scampia, not by constructing a new symbol to bond with, but by re-evaluating what already exists, making it accessible and public. And nothing is more public than a mountain!

A NEW SCIENCE
CENTRE
City of Naples In collaboration with Arch. Sossio de Vita The 3 March 2013 an arson destroyed the Science Centre of Naples. One years later it was issued an international competition to give back the Science Centre to the city. The project had two main goals, which aimed to create a space both connected to the recent past and the landscape, in particular with the sea. We designed a big garden that could maintain what was left of the old science centre and we proposed a big volume that is complementary to the two old destroyed shed. The idea is therefore to establish a "hollow memory" and a "full memory" of what was the Science Centre. The visual continuity towards the sea has been preserved by avoiding volumes on
ground, with the exception of structural pylons, emergency stairwells, services and halls. What strongly characterizes the ground level is the desire to preserve the memory of the old centre which survived the fire, constituting the "Park of Memory". To increase the memory of the old centre, the skin of the new building is composed with the post-fire debris. Pieces of tiles, brick, wood, concrete and yellow tuff was combined to create a vibrant e porose facade. The internal exposition areas are divided in two levels and are integrated by a variouses interactive functions: laboratories, Fab Lab, agora and a children's workshop area.

ITALIAN SUBURBS:
RETROFIT
City of Ponticelli (NA) In collaboration with Camilla Russo The district of Ponticelli, in the province of Naples, is the result of building speculation occurred after the earthquake of 1980. The need to build a lot and quickly produced a series of residential buildings, built with poor material and located in an area far from services: the so-called commuter area. The living conditions of the inhabitants are poor: houses are cold and wet, open spaces are degraded and dirty with the presence of rats, they are isolated from the city and the principal services. The project aims to restore a good living condition inside and outside the buildings, making the neighborhood alive by integrating new services on the ground floor (shops, activity like
bar and restaurants, kindergartens etc), like a social housing. The new open spaces, mixed with the new social functions on the ground floor, aim to generate a new social mixitè, trying to resolve the current social problems. The work of retrofit is inspired to the “green” principles for making sustainable new buildings. To this purpose, we designed a ventilated facade which increases the thermo hygrometric comfort inside, integrated systems for rainwater collection and its reuse for sanitation, sistems of phytodepuration, the use of rinnovable energy and the integration of green on the rooftops.

A NEW LIBRARY FOR
BRIOSCO
City of Monza Brianza In collaboration with Arch. Eduardo Bassolino Brisco's new library is the result of a competition of ideas: the request was to design a library for the city which integrates with the complex orograpy of the territory. The library had to be semi underground to not remove too much soil and it aimed to be a pleasant meeting space, rather than a singular building separated from its environment. The project is located in a strategic area near the historic city center and aims to be a social meeting point, as well as a new cultural landmark of the city of Briosco. The project is characterized by three different volumes. The first contains the two-storey library, the second contains activities for children and the third includes recreational
activities for the community. The shape has been elaborated with reference to the typical local houses, characterized by a rectangular base and a sloped roof. Starting from those simple shapes, we divided it in three parts and we rotated every part in a different way following the directions of the lot. We thought of a library profoundly connected with the outside, that almost blends with nature. The buildings are held together by a vast green terrace which strenghten the symbolic relationship between what’s built and nature, concept at the heart of our project.
