Neighborhood Spotlight

The Lakes

By: Mary Jo Violett, PA, Realtor®, Michael Saunders & Company

Tucked away at the southeast corner of McIntosh Road and Bahia Vista Street, and under a canopy of mature oaks, the deedrestricted community known as The Lakes invites you to enjoy Florida’s prized greenery and simpler way of life.

The neighborhood includes four communities that wind around five interior lakes and natural preserves, giving homeowners an enchanting ambiance for outdoor play, dog-walking, and relaxation. Singlefamily homes and maintenance-free condominiums constructed between 1985-1990 add versatility for the families, retirees, and working professionals that call The Lakes home.

The multiple architectural styles – from Spanish Mediterranean to Florida ranch – give the community diversity and flair. Square footage ranges from 1,900 to over 4,400 with 3-5 bedrooms and a median sales price within the last six months of $487,750.

Resort living takes on a new shape but is no less luxurious when it comes to the neighborhood amenities – which include two lit tennis courts, recreation center with fitness room, and two pools – and a central location means quick and convenient access to top-rated schools, downtown Sarasota, I-75 and local favorites Yoder’s and Der Dutchman. •
