It’s easy to forget here in the Saratoga region, an area so often associated with affluence and privilege, that there exists a great and ever-growing need for those who are less fortunate, struggling to make ends meet in our tumultuous economic climate. “More and more people are having a difficult time making ends meet,” Courtney Bissell, Coordinator of Development and Volunteers for the Franklin Community Center Food Pantry said. “All of our services have kind of been sky-
rocketing. We’re finding a lot more folks that might have been donors in years past are now the ones using the services themselves.” The stereotypes that have generally been associated with people who take advantage of services such as the ones offered at the Franklin Community Center Food Pantry are becoming less and less applicable, and across the board those who run such programs have found that there exists a much greater need from a much wider scope of the population than ever before.
