Middle School Beach Retreat
On March 27-29, twenty-five middle school students and seven advisors traveled to Kure Beach for a weekend of exploring “The True You.” We examined Psalm 139 and learned we are all “fearfully and wonderfully made,” each unique in our way. We discussed how we tend to hide behind masks, not daring to show our true selves for fear of ridicule, teasing, or some other emotional trauma. We created masks to show this and even hid behind them in worship before confessing our sin (which hides us from God). After we confessed, we showed our true selves by removing the masks and being the person God created us to be. During the weekend, we also played games on the beach and enjoyed fellowship with one another. Though the weekend was short, we enjoyed our time studying and learning more about our true selves!
