Stewardship
Wendy Gallaher
ʺEach one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.ʺ 2 Corinthians 9:7
Thank you for being such a caring and giving congregation. I am not solely speaking of your financial commitment to Sardis, but also of your overwhelming willingness to share your time and talents with Sardis members, the Charlotte community, and ʺneighborsʺ beyond our city.
Thank you for continually supporting programs and needs such as Ten Cents a Meal, Souper Sunday, Loaves and Fishes, One Great Hour of Sharing, the Joy Christmas offering, new church signage, medication needs in Haiti, and Planting Seeds of Hope for the children at Rama Road Elementary School. “When we cultivate compassion for others we can feel the loving kindness God offers us.” ‐Becca Stevens
Thank you for providing countless hours teaching our children and youth, coaching basketball and softball, working with our scouting program, sharing your musical talents, ushering, making our neighbors feel welcome at Room In The Inn, helping build Habitat Houses and being a Stephen Minister to support Sardis members. ʺVolunteers donʹt get paid, not because theyʹre worthless, but because they are priceless.ʺ ‐Sherry Anderson
While these are just a few examples, the Stewardship Ministry would like to thank each one of you for ALL the ways you support Sardis; for continually donating money for special projects; for giving your time at Sardis for programs for all our members; and for volunteering countless hours to make lives better for our neighbors near and far. Your hearts are enormous, and you are indeed loved by God. Thank you for showing our love for others. Together, we are Equipping Sardis for God’s Mission.

MISSIONS Ministry
Mission Co‐Workers Update
Mark Hare and Jenny Bent are mission co‐ workers supported by Sardis through PC(USA) World Mission. From their base in the Dominican Republic, they are committed to serving Haitians and Dominicans.
Mark, an agricultural technician, serves with the Peasant Movement of Papaye (MPP) which helps farmers develop systems to produce more food with minimal labor. Mark and Jenny both serve with the Evangelical Dominican Church, supporting their Community Health Evangelism Program, which helps identify physical and spiritual needs of the people, and take action to meet those needs. This program emphasizes using local resources to change the lives of the people. Jenny and Mark are energized by the Holy Spirit blowing through and transforming them, as well as those with whom they work.
Mark, Jenny, and their two daughters will be in the United States August to October, visiting congregations who support their works.
Sardis, Are You Ready to Make an Impact!?
Become a Families Forward Charlotte Family Liaison! Through our new partnership with FFC, founded by Sardis member Carrie Christian, we are looking for individuals, families, or small teams of Sardis members to serve as Family Liaisons for five Rama Road Elementary School families. This is a unique opportunity to create a meaningful relationship with a deserving family helping them on their journey to long‐term stability.
What does the commitment look like?
Liaisons will receive a half‐day onsite training session with FFC to prepare for the 4‐6 hour monthly commitment to their partnering families which includes:
▪ Monthly in‐person meetings with the family (early September‐early June) ▪ Joining the family at educational workshops ▪ Researching opportunities to help the family reach their goals ▪ Assisting in navigating necessary resources ▪ Ongoing training and communication with Families Forward Charlotte
Feeling God’s nudge? Be inspired by visiting the FFC Facebook page and website: http://www.familiesforwardcharlotte.org Questions? Contact Vicky Hovis (vrhovis@gmail.com).

Youth ministry
“…set an example for the believers…” 1 Timothy 4:12.
Escaped the Escape Room!
On Sunday, April 14, 23 youth and adults traveled to escape rooms to put their puzzle‐solving skills to the test and see if they could outwit the rooms. Each group was given an hour to solve puzzles and figure out codes to unlock their door and win the challenge. One group escaped the hardest room with no clues in the third fastest time! One group escaped their room with a mere 11 seconds left. And the last group was so close to finishing, but could not enter the code in time. Everyone had a great time and were glad we had this activity on the first weekend of CMS spring break!
