@ SardisYouth MAY 2014 Committed to glorifying God, the Youth Ministry of Sardis Presbyterian Church exists to accept, engage and nurture all youth and their families in order that they become disciples of Christ and serve the Lord.
Goodbye Alison!
Chris Shaw – Eagle Scout
The word “goodbye” originated in the late 16th century and is the contraction of “God be with you.” So, Alison, we wish you the best and all that “goodbye” means as you travel to Ecuador to teach English for the next year. High School Youth Fellowship and Take A Break Tuesday will miss your enthusiasm and energy and we are so grateful for the time you have given our Sardis youth!
Chris Shaw achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was presented the highest award in Scouting on March 30.
Senior Roast Congratulations to our Youth Fellowship seniors who were honored with a “roast,” including a hilarious slide show that had everyone laughing! Thanks to Scott and Doug Banks for coordinating the tribute!

MIDDLE SCHOOL BEACH RETREAT
We had a great group of middle schoolers and advisors attend the beach retreat on the weekend of March 28-30. The group spent the weekend in Kure Beach. They enjoyed extra large ice cream sundays, playing messy games, and games of trust, and competing in relay races. This was a weekend filled with fellowship and prayer. The group enjoyed getting to know each other better, and building their relationship with God.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BALLOON LAUNCHING
DR. KORT VISITS HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH FELLOWSHIP High Schoolers welcomed Tom Kort to Fellowship on March 23 for fun and insight! The curious topic, “Did Jesus Do the Hokey Pokey?” lent itself to line dancing featuring “The Hokey Pokey” led by the incomparable Anne Sweeney! When we sing and dance “The Hokey Pokey” there is the line, “That’s What It’s All About,” and Tom’s question to the high schoolers was, “What’s It All About?” The senior pastor’s sage advice: “don’t put too much pressure on yourself because it does work itself out.” So, “Did Jesus Do The Hokey Pokey?” Maybe so, maybe so!
GENDER DINNER PAINTBALL EXTRAVAGANZA! Ouch! The bruises, the paint, the screams, the fun! The mixed gender team competition was spirited and we are not sure who had the most fun playing paintball, the high schoolers or the advisors!
BELIZE/MONTREAT SERVICE PROJECT & YOUTH/PARENT LUNCH High schoolers and their parents had a great time working and eating together on our April 5 Belize/Montreat service project.
