Confirmation Class Fall Retreat
The 2014 Confirmation class spent the weekend of September 20 at Montreat Conference Center. The youth had a great time despite the rain-out on Saturday. The comments received from the confirmation class and their parents are testament to what a wonderful weekend it was.
“I had fun, but also learned a lot about God.” “It was a very good bonding experience.” “Thanks for putting together such a meaningful weekend for our kids!” “The devotion on Saturday night spoke to my heart.” “I am excited to take this journey to learn more about my faith.” “I really enjoyed this retreat i learned a lot about the Bible , and, everything it contains. I met new people and made new friends. I enjoyed the fellowship and the whole retreat overall.”
“I thank all the instructors and young adults that shared their Life and Light with my son. He will someday too share with others what he received on the retreat. It may not be tomorrow but possibly years from now.” “I wanted to tell you that my son had a fantastic trip to Montreat last weekend. He, on his own, told me about his spiritual experiences. Brought me to tears. Thank you. Thank you for ALL you do for my children.” “My favorite part of the retreat was the tin man ceremony. It was an eye-opening experience I will never forget.”
Middle School Our Sardis middle schoolers are enjoying their time at Fellowship on Sundays, and mid -week Sabbath. They have been getting to know the new 6th graders, rekindling friendships, playing fun games like human foosball and crazy water games, and enjoying activities like an ice cream road trip! Our leaders have led our middle schoolers in Bible lessons such as “God is Like Judge” and “God is Like Water.” October will be another fun and meaningful month. The youth will dive into service activities like the CROP Walk, and their service retreat weekend at CROSS Missions. October also brings along the annual gourde launching fun!
High School Ocean Isle Beach Retreat
"Wow! We at Sardis are lucky to have had such energetic, polite, and enthusiastic youth, as well as adult advisors, on our fall retreat to Ocean Isle Beach! Our group bonded through team building, fun games, and meaningful discussion of what it means to be "Fearless". So many special memories have been created, everyone involved will never forget the special bond we built! Thank you to the advisors for their incredible hard work and dedication to our youth, this program would not be as wonderful without you. --Cary Hall Titus
Project Sand Box
Thanks to Charlie Bohlen, Jack Cross, John and Mark Harris, Chase Hunter, Madeline Muldoon and Zach Otto for refilling the Sardis playground sandboxes! This service project was coordinated by David Abercrombie on behalf of the Sardis Preschool.
The Cross One of the most amazing God moments of the Ocean Isle beach retreat happened when everyone walked out onto the beach for the Saturday night worship service and saw the magnificent cross that Glenn Crossley built for our retreat. We are so fortunate to have the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of Glenn and Sallie Crossley's daughter, Alison, who is an advisor. Alison and Glenn devised a way to illuminate the cross using glow sticks!! Thank you, Glenn and Alison, for giving our youth this contribution of inspiration! The cross is in the youth room and will be used for many youth and church activities!
