An Inside Look It's been a busy summer at Sarreid Ltd.
TAKING OUR VITAMIN C'S CONTROLLING THE CHAOS OF CONTAINERS, COST OF GOODS AND COVID WITH A HEALTHY DOSE OF CREATIVITY By Brad Cates The theme for this month’s newsletter was scheduled to be “A Return to the New Normal,” but as we all know, there’s nothing normal about the times in which we are all operating now. Rather, we’re working harder than ever to control the chaos.

Next month marks two years since I joined Sarreid, and we’ve been through a lot of change over that time. The good news is that we’re continuing to evolve from a creative standpoint and we’re heading into High Point Market this fall with what may actually be the largest product intro in more than a decade. When you arrive, you’ll find that designer Mickey Sharpe has completely reimagined our showroom to display all our new product in show-stopping room scenes and homelike vignettes that invite you to peer through the windows for a sense of true discovery and exploration. Mickey’s showroom concept encourages seeing things in a different way, just as we’re doing here. Everything you see in High Point will be the result of an extremely focused and planned product development cycle designed to make it easier than ever for designers, retailers, retail sales associates and even consumers to mix and match our products. You’ll find that we’re pushing further into the realm of whole home in the bedroom category, and our upholstery continues to evolve across all categories, especially leather, where we’ll be showing several new colorways that harken back to a Mid-Century vibe. You’ll also find product developed with mountain and coastal regions in mind, and an emphasis on mixed materials throughout, reflecting our roots as an accessories company. Of course, beautiful things are of little value if you can’t get your hands on them, so we’ve committed the capital necessary to ensure that all of the samples you see in the showroom will have, at the very least, minimum order quantity on hand. Our success this year has been a direct result of our in-stock position, and with the exception of inventory reserved for the showroom, all of our new product will be immediately available for sale.

Key here is that you don’t have to wait for Market to see or purchase them. As all new product comes in, we’re photographing it and uploading the images to Sarreid.com, so if you’re on the hunt for fresh goods, keep a close on the site. All sales representatives are receiving weekly—and sometimes daily!—emails detailing container arrivals and we’re posting ETAs and availability on the site the moment product is on the water in order to keep you in the know. And now that you do, plan to act accordingly because he or she who hesitates will have lost!

SAGE ADVICE As the news breaks on PPG’s 2022 Color of the Year— Olive Sprig—excitement continues to build here at Sarreid as we unload container after container of goods in our newest favorite finish: Sage. Sold-out this spring before we even opened the showroom doors, this silvery gray-green colorway is the perfect antidote to pandemic blues (pun intended) and our innate need as humans for nature and peaceful environs.
#53580-4 A statement piece ideal for grand spaces, the natural top on this console table will develop patina over time.
#53592 Tall on charm: The diamond-patterned door design on the bottom unit of this large-scale design lends texture and movement. Adding the top makes it ideal for storage in a library, kitchen and more.
#53595 As home office increases in importance, the need for small-scale desks that can be tucked into kitchens, hallways and more becomes apparent. Grab the nearest No. 2 pencil and place an order: This one is available for delivery just as the school year gets underway.
#53583 No doubt you’ll be hearing a lot about biophilic design this Market, and we’ve got the jump on the burgeoning trend. Witness the fractal-inspired front of this sage-finished sideboard, available in two different sizes.

Getting Extra Creative
Fenwick Etagere
There’s been lots of industry chatter about the whiz-bang possibilities of 3D technology, most of it focused on consumer-facing websites. We think the ability to engage shoppers by turning product from this angle or that can be a nice-to-have parlor trick, but here at Sarreid, we believe 3D technology has far greater potential to help manufacturers curb costs, particularly during times like these. With so much that we cannot control now—from the shortage of containers to the escalating cost of goods and rampant Covid variants—we’re focusing our attention on expanding our creativity. We’ve partnered with the leading provider of 3D technology to build out our image library—creating complete room scenes in-house. If that doesn’t sound like big news, consider this: Sarreid has long been known for deep, rich, and complex finishes, leathers, and mixed materials. All of which have proven historically challenging for 3D technology which tends to turn out accurate, but flat, lifeless renderings. I’m happy to report that our provider has figured it out and our furniture now renders as beautifully as if we had spent hours (and days!) laboring under the hot lights of a photography studio. This new partnership enables us to take studio time and costs to zero, while still beautifully maintaining the ethos that is Sarreid. Why is this so important? Simply put, we’re changing the way business is and will be done. Shooting in a studio requires significant time out of the office for both products and people. It diverts our team’s focus, and as any manufacturer will tell you, the products often get damaged in the process. Now, we are able to create 3D images in-house, right down to adjusting light sources and even the time of day for the ideal shot. While the upfront investment was significant, this enables us to get product and promotional materials out the door faster than ever and will save significant costs over time. We’ll have more time and resources to focus on what we do best, while giving you the opportunity to efficiently share with clients and customers the extraordinary product you specify for their spaces.
