ONE BRAND ONE VOICE By Brad Cates
What a Market! We had more than 100 new pieces to show, and more exciting still, more than half of them are in stock today. Heading into High Point last week, we were certain that the key word would be “immediacy.” Across the board, the industry is still mired in challenges. While here in the U.S., we appear to be in control of the pandemic crisis, rather than the other way around, the news reports out of India, China and Vietnam with an entirely new variant spreading is not good. From a boots-on-the-ground standpoint, we know things are not progressing in a positive way. We also know that business, and how we conduct it, has changed over the past year, and from where I sit, we’re not ever going back to what we all considered “normal.” That said, we find ourselves in a unique position as an industry. People are paying more attention to their homes than ever before, they have more disposable income to make improvements to their living spaces, and here at Sarreid we’re determined to help them—and you—make it happen. We currently have some $8 million worth of product on order and in transit and containers are continually rolling in. And every time one arrives, whether it’s one or ten, we send our sales force a comprehensive list with photographs of everything that’s available to sell as of that moment. Like I said…immediacy!

Already our new designs are being very well received, and I’m excited to hear your feedback from your visit with us in the showroom. The first thing everyone noticed were the origami birds that welcomed you inside, created from watermarked papers that mimic our wood finishes. The next was the open and airy feel of a showroom poised to help you take flight. We have our friend Mickey Sharpe to thank for that. Since the lion’s share of our customer base is comprised of those in the design field, we thought it appropriate to have a working interior designer create the showroom presentation, and it was a wow. The showroom felt more open and expansive, with the sense of exploration and discovery you expect from Sarreid. Yet, because it was designed by someone who intimately understands the design business, the shopping experience, while inspiring, was also more efficient. To help everyone make the best use of their time in High Point, where once the showroom was peppered with a variety of brands— Encore, Rhapsody, Uffizi—now there is simply Sarreid. We’re speaking with one brand, one voice and one perspective, concentrating on making our whole home vision easy to understand and work with, working hard to ensure that no matter what country a product arrives from, it fits cohesively in the larger picture with finishes that coordinate work closely together across our entire line. Just like our origami birds, we’re ready to take off. Come fly with us!

Building on our legacy and talent for creating timeless and high quality leather seating, our newest Leather Collection has a modern/ MidCentury twist. Think tailored yet organic with flange seams and metal legs. From there we go straight into one of our strongest materials: Shagreen. Our exotic embossed leather is texturally and visually rich. For this market we have introduced news styles as well as colors... Hello Osprey White. Among the line extensions this season, watch for the head-turning geometry of our Stacked pieces. Based off of one of our best selling console tables, we have added white and grey finishes to this group of tables along with a show stopping bench. Also, not to be missed: our Cane Collection. Traditionally having a coastal feel, cane has transcended into almost every style and can be mixed into modern, mid century, traditional and eclectic designs.

Q&A
with Mickey Sharpe For this Spring 2021 High Point Market we again leaned on renowned designer, Mickey Sharpe, to help design our showroom. Mickey is a designer based in Lexington, North Carolina, that focuses on interiors and architectural designs.
What is your favorite piece in the Sarreid Showroom? "I was very excited to highlight the Acacia wood Pebble Bench in the showroom this market. Quality and good design is pervasive throughout the Sarreid product line, but the Pebble Bench is my hands down favorite. The sculptural quality of line makes it a work of art, in my opinion, and on top of that, it's quite comfortable!"

What trends did you notice at this High Point Market? "Without question, the number one trend at the June market has been re-imagining the showroom design to showcase in-stock product. I saw it in almost every showroom I visited and heard Woven Front Chest #53432 that same observation echoed among designers and buyers throughout the event. Beyond that, the call for Eco-friendly, sustainable materials is driving product design and is creating wonderful, layered character that is fresh and innovative." June 2021
"And let me just add that I love being a part of the Sarreid team. It is the most compatible and collaborative group of people I've ever worked with. I'm grateful for that everyday!"

SPOTTING SARREID Style Spotters have already set out on the search for their market faves. While trends are all across the board, the one thing they all agree on is that there is plenty to get excited about it at the June 2021 High Point Market. The excitement level here at Sarreid is soaring as we have been spotted by a few fabulous designers and publications. Heather French of French and French Interiors picked our Dutch Sideboard as a pre-market favorite. "A folk inspired detail is one of my favorite touches to add to a room. The geometric carved doors and scalloped trim feels fanciful but historical in a grey washed wood. A wallpaper or accent pillow with a scallop would be the perfect detail to tie it all together. I look forward to seeing this beautiful piece at Market." The editors at Furniture Today Magazine spotted our new Vineyards King Bed as part of the "woven elegance" trend. "Natural materials continue to round out the mix, with woven sea grass, rattan leather and wicker." Naturally, we couldn't agree more! Keita Turner's head was turned by our lifestyle image of the Lexington Sofa in Notting Hill Grey Leather and our Quatrain Coffee Table. "We want our cocktail and coffee tables to anchor our living space, and conjoin the sofa, sectional or lounge chair seating arrangements. We need them to compliment the aesthetic direction of our decor and perform their intended purpose with creative smart functionality, beauty and style." June 2021
