Grateful for the Opportunity
Home for the holidays
BY BRAD CATES, CEO
Expressing thanks is good for you. Not surprisingly, throughout the roller coaster ride of 2020, we have noticed article after article touting the benefits of counting one’s blessings as a means for combating stress. The latest—describing the growing body of research into the effect that gratitude has on our lives —appeared in Harvard Medical School’s “HEALTHbeat” this month. The headline? Giving thanks can make you happier. As we prepare for the coming holiday season on the heels of a successful High Point Market, I’m grateful for quite a lot, beginning with time spent with family. Right now, I’m decompressing with my wife and daughters in the mountains, looking forward to settling into my new role leading a company and a team that has thankfully embraced me as one of their own. I can honestly say that everything I have done in my career to date has been leading me to this moment, and I feel incredibly blessed to have been entrusted with Sarreid’s great legacy and future. Of course, Sarreid would be nowhere without each of you. This month, the entire Sarreid family joins me in thanking you, the retailers, designers, and suppliers, who continually support, encourage, and challenge us to be the best we can every day. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you, and for the opportunities that await all of us in 2021. With all the ups and downs of the past year, I think it’s fair to say we can be most grateful that consumers have turned their focus incontrovertibly toward home. The appetite for beautiful things of true quality has never been better. And that gives all of us in the business of better furnishings reason to be thankful.
Sage Advice If Fall Market 2020 was any indication, there’s a new neutral in town. It’s the soft shade of green known as sage. In terms of trends, 2020’s nod to nature should come as no surprise, since engaging with the natural world has a positive impact on well being. Indeed, sage green applied to a space creates a relaxing, spa-like environment that offers a bit more interest and personality than a traditional neutral. We’re talking serene. Farrow & Ball calls their version Ball Green, Benjamin Moore’s sage is actually dubbed Gray Cashmere (a soft, silvery hue with hints of blue and green), and the fresh and invigorating Back to Nature has been touted among Behr’s 2020 color trends.
Here at Sarreid, we’re not just
employing sage’s herb-y goodness as a starring ingredient in the dressing on our tables later this month, we’re actually dressing tables in the color (and sideboards, buffets, and consoles). Take a look at some of our tastiest, er, best-selling looks.

Designer Spotlight WITH J. MICHAEL MOORE
"Quote from Michael" In honor of this season of gratitude, we wanted to create a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape. This in mind, we issued a special invitation to join us around our Walnut Jupe Table to an extra-special guest: Interior designer and event-planner Michael Moore. The world-class design talent recently moved home here to Wilson (just in times for the holidays!). He’s been away for a while, first to attend school, then to pursue his passion with an ever-growing roster of A-list clients. Michael promptly RSVP’d, then pulled up a few of our comfortable upholstered chairs and got straight to work. “My creative process is very simple,” he shares. “Don’t overthink it and go with your first instinct. When I design an Walnut Jupe Dining Table #78-71
interior, plan an event, or even plan a table setting, I rely on my eye’s first thought, then set about executing it from that vision.” You can see the delicious results here. “Clients often tell me they want a round dining table, but feel they offer no option to expand and allow for more guest seating,” the designer says. “The functionality of the Walnut Jupe Table to

expand and reconfigure solves that problem. From its rich wood color tones to its classic design, the table works with most any design scheme.” Happy Thanksgiving and Bon Appetit!
