HIDDEN TALENTS By Brad Cates

The best kept secret at Sarreid is that many of our products are contract grade. Though we’ve long assisted designers in furnishing country clubs and common areas in public spaces, most customers don’t realize we’re fully capable of supplying all the case goods, upholstery and accents necessary to complete entire turnkey hospitality projects…beautifully.

Case in point: Hidden Pond. Located in the picturesque coastal town of Kennebunkport, Maine, the awardwinning, luxury resort collection of cottages and bungalows situated on 60 acres of birch forest expanded this summer with the installation of ten, new tree house-inspired lodges. All were designed by Hurlbutt Designs in collaboration with Maine-based designer Krista Stokes, and largely furnished, we’re proud to report, by Sarreid. Read on for more!

IN THIS ISSUE Hospitality Focus: Hidden Pond A Closer Look Designer Spotlight Catalog and Community

HIDDEN POND Hospitality Project Sarreid’s world has always been one of mixed materials, grand scale, intricate carving and exquisite marquetry. Yet, we believe what really sets our company apart is the team of specialists we have in place to bring projects to life from the initial concept to final execution. Simply put, we’re in the business of helping designers create something absolutely unique, be it one piece, a large common area in a public space, or as was the case with Hidden Pond, an extensive multi-unit luxury resort installation. As evidence, to the right, you see the realization of the project, from the original creative drawings to the end result. We were thrilled to be able to put our internal resources into play on the creative, working hand-inhand with designer Louise Hurlbutt, helping to move all the way from the early renderings stage first seen at the High Point Market, all the way through to the manufacturing and execution at the factory level to final installation.

Hidden Pond was such a fun project to work on and the team was wonderful to work with, particularly during these very difficult times. I thank you all for every part you played in getting this furniture designed, manufactured, shipped, and delivered to Maine. Job well done and mission accomplished! Our relationship with Sarreid started 20 years ago, and it only gets better and better with each project. —Louise W. Hurlbutt, Hurlbutt Designs

HIDDEN POND A Closer Look

Above: Video of the Hidden Pond Project start to finish

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT Studio Ten 25 is a Dallas, Texas based interior design studio who has a way of creating eye catching designs. The University of Arkansas AOP Sorority house is no exception. They used our Brighton Chairs in the dining and study areas as well as our ottomans in the living area. We'd say these are some lucky girls!

We hope everyone will one day have an opportunity to get away to Kennebunkport to experience a stay at Hidden Pond for themselves. In the meantime, if you are drawn to this playful and peaceful take on rustic, indoor-outdoor living inspired by the woods at daybreak and dusk, here’s a look at some of the luxe, contractgrade, custom Sarreid products inside, from the Swiveling Chairs and Benches covered in Vintage Cigar Leather, to the Chest of Drawers and Coffee Tables made from reclaimed Russian Pine and Mirrors framed in reclaimed burled wood. We particularly love the incredibly comfortable Bar Stools which appear carved right out of the trees surrounding the property! Like what you see? Get in touch. As a company, we viewed Hidden Pond as an opportunity to really flex our creative muscle in the hospitality and contract arena. We’re blessed to report that our business remains strong and our in-stock position is very strong and getting even stronger by the week. And, whether in-line product or custom, we’re prepared on every level to assist in executing your design projects right now. —Brad Cates, chief operating officer, Sarreid, Ltd. CATALOG AND COMMUNITY If you’ve been following our story during this crazy year, you know we’re moving fast to digitize our market presentations. That said, we still believe in the touch, feel and connection that producing physical catalogs continues to provide, and new hard copies of our 2020 catalog have just been released. We think it’s our best catalog yet, with more than 300 pages of new and best-selling designs, most of which are ready to ship right now. Right now, we’re in the midst of mailing out thousands of copies. Since we feel strongly about being a good corporate citizen and contributing to the community in which we work here in Wilson, NC, we turned to the folks at Diversified Opportunities for help with this monumental task. .

DOI is truly thankful for businesses in our community who support our mission such as Sarreid. Thank you Sarreid for your longtime partnership and we look forward to many successful years ahead.

As background, Diversified Opportunities provides vocational evaluation, training and job placement for individuals, age sixteen and over, with disabilities or disadvantaged circumstances so that they might secure an optimal earned income and enhance their independence in the community. The organization’s mission is near and dear to our hearts, and we’re especially grateful this month for the work they did in packing, labeling and mailing all of our catalogs. Keep an eye on your mailboxes because an extra-special delivery is on the way!
