On the Floor LJ LeBlanc
On the Floor
joy takes my air
we yell and shout as, “we dance to songs and barely know the words”
I’ve surrendered to the floor as I lay on her pale, blue carpet in defeat, my arms lay limp | Caro rolls over next to me,
happiness has gotten the best of me, I’m smiling.
music echoes through my headache— “sing as loud as you can and no one will hear” the
words revolve around my mind
we go on “singing” until our lungs are stiff with laughter.
so long … as I … have need … to breathe, I’ll keep my smile.
