FOREST GATEWAY For a family that has gone through a lengthy voyage around the globe, a permanent home shall serve as a hub. It will help keep their strong ties and remind of the journey, all while respecting nature and capitalizing on its resources. The building serves as a path to the beautiful forest beyond. A place of peace, rejuvenation and inspiration at SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA.

PORTABLE PORTAL Cal Poly, Design Village competition
The structure becomes a portal able to connect to other structures that are undetermined until realization of the project on site. The structures unique and repetitive form also allows it to adapt to any topography by resting on two primary points. Mainly composed of MDF, the ribs are held together by a cross brace to minimize sheering. Two by fours hold structure together keeping each rib in place. As structure adjusts to topography. Hammocks pivot, keeping leveled in a comfortable position. Stacking of hammocks allows to utilize fewer ribs, maximizing space. Roof system slides along ribs adjusting to the sun, also allowing to open back of structure at night for a view. Center bay is a ladder that is an overlook at the top

RIVER LAB
Minutes away from the heart of Los Angeles, on the banks of the L.A. river, is a laboratory facility for water purification research. Its central location and proximity to transportation routes give it an edge in appeal and reach to the public. The facility takes advantage of multiple natural and human forces, while staying out of the way of others, keeping to a perfect balance between the natural and built evironments of the concrete jungle.

AMP TOWER People are the sources of sound this building absorbs, channels, and emits back into the city. The amount of sound individuals create as they move toward and through spaces is analyzed. Their speech, singing, footsteps, even thoughts produce a very specific tune. The idea is to identify, isolate, and treat accordingly each one to produce a place of harmony and unity that in-turn is projected back into the city’s environment.

10TH FLR LIVE WORK
1ST FLR RENT WORK
The Opte Building is a project that attempts to capitalize on the possibilities of the internet and bring them into the realm of business through architectural design. The target consumer is the high energy, networking business person, working on start-up companies. It uses the benefits of the internet to create a flourishing business environment while supporting a healthy lifestyle. The project consists of four parts intermingled within each other and activities for all to socialize and network. Live-work studios, Live-in offices, Rental work & office spaces, and public spaces are all connected and held together by a network of fiber optics that brings natural daylight through the vertical farm into the building and the park underneath.

MODEL MAKING
Model making is an essential part of the design and study process. It is useful in both ilustrating design ideas and studying existing projects. As it brings the design into the three dimentional realm that we live in, in a managable size.
