“For me, design is an actualization of human needs and as a tool to enhance our humanity. Design is about empathy, how to listen, watch, and understand the context. Architecture can not be separated from their surrounding, that makes architecture must be able to response to their environment, the context, and be in harmony with nature. I believe a good space leads to a better living”

Alor, NTT Final Architecture Project Ir. Basauli Umar Lubis, M.SA., Ph.D.
Alor is one of the priority areas of the National Tourism Development Zone and must be followed by the development of transportation modes including the airport as a tourist facility to visit Alor Island. Refers to Minister of Transportation Decree No. KP 548 in 2016, the Mali Airport Terminal needs to be developed. There are two main issues, ‘circulation’ and ‘image and locality’ issues. The design concept is Prologue of Alor. The airport will be a representation of Alor and tourism destination. The concept brings together the tourism of Alor Island, nature and culture, with the function of an airport.
moko was a traditional musical instrument from alor and dowry
Falah is a traditional house from Alor which has a roof with a triangular base
beach and sea are one of the most popular tourism on Alor Island
The Context
Alor is dominated by hills covered by trees
tourists are increased every year Alor has a lot tourism destination, natural and cultural
who come to Alor are usually tourists
Alor is one of priority of the National Tourism Development Zone
promotion about Alor tourism destination

relax and stress free
The design concept is Prologue of Alor. The airport will be a representation of Alor and tourism destination that brings together the nature and culture, with the function of an airport.
Two sub-concepts are Experience and Relax and stressfree which are implemented with natural elements around the site and apply some cultural elements to the building The terminal is designed to provide a sense of comfort and relaxation to the visitors. This can be done by applying natural features to the building’s interior and designing a large enough space, not only the size of space but with visual access too.

high density residential as one of solution for urbanization. urbanization as one of the factors that makes urban land used by economic activities, so the residential area are marginalized. this project is a response to urbanzation problem. there are two kinds of housing, landed housing (350 units) and walk up apartment (400 units). sukaluyu housing accomodates user interaction with more green area as a public area and the location of social&comercial facilities that can be used by people surrounding sukaluyu housing also, so this area is not like ‘gated housing’ and blend with surrounding area

“ dibuang sayang ”
the idea of “dibuang sayang” project came up as we raise concerns about the fact that students of the university started making too many impresive-but-prodigal installation for various events that were held mostly for a day or two. Those installations always ended up as wastes, filling up residual spaces in the campus.
having a condition to make two installations for a couple of events, the team tries to solve the wasteful installations problem by started with the criterias :
omah an annual photobook exhibition by Liga Film Mahasiswa
gaung bandung an architecture festival by IMA-G ITB
outdoor installation and exhibition panel by gaung bandung 2018

As a city, Bandung should be a livable city. To realize this, Bandung participation is needed to become an inclusive city. One of them is inclusion in access, by opening opportunities for everyone to access good space, so that everyone can access their needs fairly. In creating an inclusive city, the city of Bandung began its initiation, by creating an inclusive park, located across GOR Saparua Bandung. This workshop begins with doing activites in this park with people with disability. From these activities, concluded that preservation of inclusive park is needed so that it is always beneficial to the community.

Sense of smell
The universal park is planned as a landmark that can involve several human senses. These senses include the sense of smell, hearing and touch. it aims so that everyone can enjoy the park without being limited by condition. Some of the features are provided by making a few artificial water fountain pools on the lake making a deck on the lakeside. The visitors can enjoy water splashes and become features that can be heard by visitors. and making the river as a waterfront area.
Sense of hearing and touch
Gazebo
The sense of smell is realized by planting plants that can provide a scent that can be enjoyed. Flowers can be planted are like lavender, ashoka, jasmine, mirabillis jalapa, and lonicera heckrotii. Other improvements are made by increasing sports and games for people with disabilities well, improving ramp access to the park entrance, and mini gazebos as resting point for people with disablities.

Growth population increases the amount of land needed. But, limited land is a common urban problem in Indonesia. The Land limitation and unaffordable settlements makes slums and small settlements formed organically. Urban village are intended for low-cost families in high density areas. This facility prioritizes the purchasing power of users. Limited horizontal land makes that land is made vertically split level to meet user space requirements.
