This pizza was garnished with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and basil to represent the colors of the Italian flag. • In the 19th century Italian immigrants brought pizza to America and it was sold by peddlers on the street. The first pizzeria opened in 1903 in Chicago. • Today, 97% of adults eat pizza while the industry rings over $40 billion in sales a year!

THE SUPERSTONE ® BREAD DOME #2557 The Superstone® Bread Dome is the ideal baker for “No-Knead” Bread, as popularized by Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery in New York. The domed shape allows air to circulate around the baker for a uniformlybrowned crust. The unglazed lid helps pull moisture to create the crackly crust and light crumb like those in breads baked in professional brick-lined ovens. The added hole in the lid allows some steam to escape to ensure a crispier loaf. SUPERSTONE ® LA CLOCHE #1005 This piece was inspired by a dome-shaped lid which the ancient Etruscans used in bread-baking. They would simply put their bread dough on hot rocks in the sun and cover it with a stoneware lid. The intense dry heat would bake the bread while at the same time, producing superior crispy and crackly crusts. Now you can create a brick-lined oven right in your own standard kitchen stove. The dome-shaped La Cloche helps circulate the air throughout the piece, while the Superstone material pulls moisture from the dough, producing a crackly crisp crust and light crumb. How To Roast Garlic: Carefully remove the outside papery skins of each garlic bulb and cut away the top 1/2, exposing the tops of the cloves. Be careful to leave the head intact. Place the bulbs snugly in an upright position in the baker. Drizzle the bulbs with about a tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle them with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper. Cover and bake in a 350º oven for about 20-25 minutes and then with a total of 1/2 cup water baste every 10 to 15 minutes, adding more water as needed. Bake for 1 hour more or until the cloves are tender.
