I know the year 2020 was not our best due to the Corona Virus, being locked down and not being able to do all the things we enjoy with our friends and family, but don't be discouraged. I believe it will all get better if we all do our part, like wearing masks, using hand sanitizer whenever we are on the go and practicing social distancing. Let's make sure that we call and check up on your friends, family and elderly loved ones. You may not be able to see and talk to them in person, but you can always reach out and give them a happy hello. Also, make sure you're taking care of yourself as well! Work on your businesses and enjoy spending quality time at home. Use this time to network and collaborate with other young people that you have things in common with. Being a generation of innovators, there is so much we have yet to discover and I am super excited for my continued journey in dance, fashion and young entrepreneurship. ONE TO WATCH Do you have a “friend in your head” that inspires you? Yes, I do, it’s Celai West. Although she’s younger than me, I feel that she is a force to reckon with on the runway and I am happy to be able to work alongside her in adult shows for amazing designers. When did you discover your passion for modeling and how long have you been dancing? I discovered my passion for modeling when I went to New York Fashion Week for the first time and realized that the industry was just for me. I am no longer dancing because I made the shift to full time modeling by I danced for about five years and I loved it. Have you had any challenges in the industry? If so, what have they been? Yes, it’s been the lack of knowledge that the hair teams have for ethnic hair. How has the pandemic affected your 2020 plans? The pandemic has affected me in a good way. It allowed me to slow down and focus on myself and I honestly don’t feel like I am missing out on anything. It has actually allowed me to refocus and see who I want to work with professionally and make new contacts. The world is facing challenging times. We all have the power to make change. What is one thing you would like to see change in the world? One thing that I would like to see change in the world is racial equality. I pray that everyone can come together as one and accept the differences of one another and stop isolating into groups.
You’ve definitely experienced a lot with so much more in store. From LA, New York to London and you have still found the time to become the Founder of Literacy for Life. What’s next for Joi Samone? Pageants, I competed in Alabama Teen USA 2020 and also competed in Princess America Pageant. I am also the USA Brand Ambassador for the Wisdom Foundation and I am planning for my junior year of High School. I have goals to graduate early. Also, my initiative, Literacy for Life and USA Ambassadorship has been written into a 21st Century Grant and one of the activities I am planning is to host a Literacy Pageant.

FREE TO BE ME: I love to be active and outdoors. This past summer I bought a jet ski. I could spend all summer on the lake but I also own 4 wheelers so I love to ride and get dirty. I really miss being Cheer Captain and going to games so I hope to return to cheering and track next year as well.
IN THE BEGINNING: I definitely got my start in pageantry after seeing my older sister win Miss Teen New England. It was at my first pageant, where I was discovered. THE START OF A MINI MOGUL: I definitely don't remember the feeling of being named
OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS: I have gotten to be apart of the Young Entrepreneurs Convention and speak on stage with celebrities like Jake Paul. Learning how other teens are really trying to make a difference and meeting people who are doing what I'm doing is always fun. I also got to be on a show called “Get Made” in which I helped other teens start businesses and mentor them. The only challenge I faced was I wanted to help everyone who had a great teen business idea but it's always fun to stay in touch with them.

It was a very exciting moment! SUPPORT SYSTEM: Coming from a big Italian family, our whole family is very close. While everyone has been super supportive, my mom, dad, sister, grandma and grandpa were the most supportive coming to all my events and red carpets. NEW NORMAL: Since the COVID-19 outbreak, we've really had to re-work how we market our brands and products to consumers. I don't mind working from home but a lot of our business use to be done in person by way of fashion shows, trade shows and buying shows. Now all of our contact with costumers is done through social
A TEEN'S GUIDE TO BUSINESS: I’m so excited about my first book “Teens Guide to Business”! At the moment we are on hold for finishing up the publishing due to COVID-19 but hope to be back on track soon. I wrote this book after I found there were hardly any up to date books for teens on resources and clear business advise for kids my age. I can’t wait for you all to read "Teens Guide to Business" THINK LIKE A BOSS: Starting a business is 40% about the product and 60% marketing and advertising. You do not need a lot of money to get started but you do need a good business plan. It's important to set goals for yourself and be willing to try new and creative ways to promote your brand. Don't be afraid to be yourself when it comes to promoting your brand. People can relate to the struggle way more than the success so letting people know your just starting out and could use some help is very honest and usually helps more people get behind your brand.

The Mission Shaiann’s mission is to help young girls and women unwrap their gift within, while igniting selfconfidence with a reminder that they too can sparkle and shine. She is also a high school student, a lover of all things beauty, a go-getter and a kidpreneur making an impact on the world. Welcome to Shai’s World Beauty is an outlet for creativity. A concept Shaiann Hogan understood from a young age. As a way to channel her individuality Shai experimented in her mother’s makeup and later filmed a makeup tutorial on her ITouch. Upon hearing the news her mother wasn’t too happy, but it was at this moment her mother saw passion and desire. The very qualities that makes a person GREAT. She wanted to nurture Shaiann so that one day she would blossom. And blossom she did. With her mother's support and knowledge backing her, Shai learned how to produce her own custom nail polish. Shai saw that she could build an empire founded on doing what she loved and that’s how Shai’s World was born. Shai’s World is an Indie Nail Polish company. It was launched in 2015 when Shai was a mere 11 years old. The nail polish is 100% vegan, cruelty free and is made without five toxic chemicals commonly found in other nail polishes such as: Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resins, Dibutyl Phthalate(DBP), Toluene and Camphor.
Shaiann has appeared on “The Real” Talk Show “Harry” TV Show and Good Morning Washington. She has also been featured in Teen Boss Magazine. Her accolades include, placing 3rd in the 2019 i-invest competition and placing 2nd in the 2017 Urban League. She has also been awarded with the “Her Eyes Matter” Black Business Woman Rock award in 2017. Recently, she launched a collaborative book titled “The Science Behind it” showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit along with other talented and amazing kidpreneurs. Shaiann also gives her time back to her community by way of teaching entrepreneurial classes once a month to youth ages 9-17 years of age. Shaiann is always thinking of ways to further her brand. Meet Ms. Shauna: I am a Mom, Entrepreneur and a Teacher. Fashion Blogger is actually my hobby. I use to be a Costume Designer and Wardrobe Assistant. I’ve loved fashion since I was a little girl. Teaching during the Pandemic: Teaching during the Pandemic and trying to adapt to remote learning has been the biggest challenge for me. It’s really difficult especially because I teach a dance based subject. I also have to teach dance virtually. I would rather teach live online. I miss the atmosphere that I created in my classroom. A Hip-Hop style room, that the kids would help me decorate every year. It's a struggle trying to learn the new applications and keep my lessons engaging. I have to create videos, so I make the videos super cool like the You-Tubers do even though I’m new to it. Fresh Kid Nation: Fresh Kid Nation is a Children’s Fashion and Lifestyle Blog that was started in 2013, when I realized there was a lack of diversity in the niche market. I was a new mom and was excited about the arrival of my son. Some days I would think of what my son was going to wear. I would look online and couldn’t find anything that reflected my fashion style or the swag that I knew my son would have. I really loved fashion and followed a variety of blogs. Fashion Bomb Daily being one of my favorites. I thought to myself, no one is doing anything like this for children and that's how I came up with "Fresh Kid Nation."
“I’m inspired by young people because they have this idealistic view of the world and the things that they can accomplish. When I hear, see and meet kids who want to literally change their communities, create art or design new businesses, I want to do everything in my power to help them achieve this”. Behind the Seams: I’ve attended many Kids Fashion Events but, they are always Fashion Shows! I wondered why aren't there any networking events for kids who don’t have an interest in modeling. Some kids would rather be a photographer or start their own clothing line. I reached out to my network of friends like DJ Annie Red and Sincere for sponsorships and hosted a small event in Brooklyn, NY. All of my fashion friends joined me, it was wonderful. The second event was a little bigger. It was a hands-on workshop experience with Amelia Rose, which makes our meet ups little different. I produce this event in Miami and London also. We were hoping to go to LA and Atlanta for 2020 but COVID happened. I have been invited to bring Behind the Seams to Madrid so I am super excited about that. I often post casting calls on my page and I also have photo shoots giving kids the opportunity to have professional photos and a modeling experience they can put on their resume. I’m looking into bringing this event to Atlanta in 2021.

NAVIGATING THE BUSINESS OF YOUR CHILD'S BUSINESS

As parents we wear many hats, advisors, providers, protectors, or if you're home schooling - short order cook, assistant principal, or hall monitor. Parents with kids in the industry are also known as Mom(Dad)agers to agencies & talent professionals. Whatever side of the house you sit, here's some business tips to keep you going. Advocate - You know your child, you're their voice in the room. Ensure their best interests are always represented when pitching and negotiating on their behalf. BE CLEAR on your vision and goal, if not opportunities can become distractions. Relinquish Control - Resist the urge to be a jack of all trades and master of none. Identify your zone of genius what you're best at, perfect that. Focus on that area, and where you can build a supporting cast of individuals to help you along the way, lean in. You don't have to run the race yourself, run with a team. Communication, organization, marketing all drive efficiency, let that be your foundation. Be Ready So You Don't Have To Get Ready - When an opportunity presents itself and you have to prepare, you lose time in securing the deal. All your important documents and contracts should be up to date on a 6 to 9 month rolling period for your child. This includes: Headshots, Resume, Demo Reels, Social Media Accounts and Work Permits. Don't Take Rejection Personally - Rejection is inevitable. Rejection does not mean you (your child) aren't good enough; it means the other person failed to notice what you have to offer. Rejection also tests whether you're serious about your dreams. Keep going, change your approach, reach out to other contacts, keep pursuing it all. Be Consistent - One of the golden rules of effective management is consistency. Plan ahead, and be the example. You miss 100% of the shots you never take. When you consistently show up, the world will take notice and show up for you. Quarantine Chronicles!
Ari’ana Bronx, NY - My quarantine experience has gone like this. It has been really fun actually, I get to spend time with my mom. I don’t necessarily have to wake up at 6:00am like I usually would. Something I dislike is that we are stuck inside. We are allowed to go outside but I mainly stay indoors. My daily routine is first things first when I wake up I eat breakfast. Then I would go brush my teeth and do my homework for a couple of hours. After I’ve done most of my homework and online work, I will just catch up with my friends and make sure they are all doing good and have lunch. Lastly, I will have dinner with my mom and binge watch Netflix. IG: @Arii.kidd0 Kayla | Bronx, NY - I miss group settings and actually seeing my friends and relatives. I want to go my grandma’s house so bad. What I like most about quarantine is that my day starts later and for sure ends later. I celebrated my THIRTEENTH in QUARANTINE, but of my family and friends made the best of it. It feels like I'm on a staycation in a 5 Star All Inclusive Resort while the adults figure out what is going on and how we are going to move forward. My mom has gone back to work, zoom classes have started for dance and I have to be in google classroom daily for school. Im spending quality time with my parents and oh, my mom made a TikTok account and has been pranking us. By the way who’s in charge of the “Rona”! Thank you to all the Essential Workers! Jeydy | New Jersey - My quarantine experience has been very interesting. Although I am bored just like everyone else, I try to make the best out of it. Everyday I do my schoolwork, work out, and I take dance classes. Dance classes are my favorite part of the day because I miss being in classes and at the studio. I also have a lot of fun at home like playing board games with my family! I even dyed my hair!! Quarantine has shown me how to use what I have to have a great time! IG: @Jeydyperezz
Zoey |Washington, DC - The world is in chaos and we are all suffering because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. It’s been hard for me. At first it was exciting to think of a week or two off from school, but now it’s miserable. I miss my friends and teachers too. I’m sad I won’t be able to go on my class trip or attend my 5th grade promotion. I really really miss our weekly travels to New York for auditions or work. Madison | Brooklyn, NY - Since we have been quarantined I stay indoors more. But you know what is awesome, my Nana is quarantined with us so I get to see her all the time. Monday - Friday I have remote learning with my teachers and classmates on google. I like it because I get to see and talk to my teachers and friends. Once I complete my homework, I get to do other activities like bake, dance and art. On the weekends I get to dance with my Boss family. That’s a highlight of my week in addition to making my TikToks and taking walks outside with mom for fresh air. I hope everyone that can, stays inside so we can all come together again outside soon. How can we stop wasting our natural resources and make the world better. How can I love others like I love myself. What can I create that the world really needs? We are usually rushing everywhere. Mom likes to take us to museums, galleries, shows, the theater and auditions. Don’t get me wrong, I love the hustle and I wish we lived in NY so we were closer to photo shoots and auditions however, this time spent with my family painting, walking and redefining my values has been priceless. What I miss most is my friends and getting help from my favorite teacher because I am dyslexic and reading all the work on the Chromebook is a bit of a challenge. I love my homeschool teacher, Mom because she lets me take breaks outside in my new best friend, nature. When I heard that schools would be shutting down and I was not going to see my teachers and friends that made me even sadder. But since I've been home, I have done fun things. like seeing my friends and teachers during Zoom classes, having video chats, watching my favorite shows, playing games, spending time with family and doing other fun activities. I have also used this time to do helpful projects through Girl Scouts. This year I learned about the census and even did calls to teachers and family to remind them of the importance of the census and to fill it out. Pauline | North Bergen, NJ - In quarantine I am learning that we need to encourage healthier habits, I need my teachers more than I realized, face timing is great but it doesn’t beat human interaction, I still miss my friends and social media is no that social after all. Technology is the one thing keeping us all connected and sane. The best part is spending time with my family. My absolute favorite is piling up on my parents’ bed with my siblings to watch reruns of Family Matters. I’ve learned to adapt and be grateful. I am optimistic about the future but still fear that I may miss my prom, 8th grade graduation and the chance to say goodbye to my teachers and friends since I will be moving onto the next chapter in my life, Highschool! Camille | Wylie, TX - During the quarantine, I have been able to learn a lot about myself. I enjoy waking up early so I can stretch before I start my schoolwork. In the afternoons, I always try to go on a walk with my dogs to enjoy the sunshine then I return home to practice theatre, choir, and dance (all virtually, of course). In the evenings, I am taking advantage of this quarantine to spend quality time with my family and getting a good night’s sleep. Soleil | New York - I have to say I’m not that upset with having to be in quarantine, but I didn’t start out feeling that way. I knew from about the first week in March how serious this was getting and we started taking precautions when traveling to the city. I was so disappointed when jobs that I booked started getting canceled then dance and my birthday party. I’m already a homeschooler so there’s no difference. I have been getting more things done, like working on my business and coming up with new ideas, taking voice over classes, practicing monologues, and writing a script. I just started working on makeup which is fun and I’ve been having a lot of self tape auditions. It’s important to stay safe and use this time to get better at things that you love to do. IG: @Soleilbreeze Kataliya | Brooklyn, NY - During the pandemic I was quarantined with my parents and big brother Omari. However, mom still has to go to work everyday since she works for Bellevue Hospital and is an Essential Worker. I pray for her safety daily. My dad and I work on my classwork assignments together during the day. I stay connected with my dance school through classes using Zoom. We even used Zoom so my family could sing Happy Birthday to me. I've made several Tik Tok videos and completed challenges. One of my groups, is gearing up to do a Virtual Fashion Show. That should be a lot of fun because I love dressing up and strutting my stuff! My mom and I use our quarantine time baking. The Art of Martial Arts! I was nine years old when I began my journey of Taekwondo! I pursued it full force until I attained my first degree black-belt. Soon after, I was inducted into the “Leadership Program,” “Master’s Program” and became a member of the “Traveling Tournament Team” representing and fighting on behalf of my Dojo. After attaining my firstdegree black belt from Master and Sensei Alex Azar, I progressed into Mixed Martial Arts, learning a blend of: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kenpo, Krav Maga, Kickboxing, Close Range Military Combatives, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Boxing, Karate, and Lethwei. Learning and being involved in tactical weapons training during this process was a natural evolution. Daily Routines and COVID-19:

My daily routine has changed quite a bit. I’m grateful to be with family right now and I’ve adjusted to a new outlook of content creation. So now instead of getting out, I’ve converted to an at home routine. That includes at home workouts, martial arts training, college, and photo shoots.

Thinking positive thoughts, what will be the first thing you will do that you could not during the pandemic? HUG SOMEONE! I would also love to go to the beach.
I was 12 years old, when I felt called to the entertainment industry. Mentors and Motivation: I look up to certain actors such as the multi-talented Hugh Jackman etc. I don’t really have a mentor in the industry. My mom is my mentor through life. My faith is what motivates me. The constant feeling to “be the change you wish to see in the world” is a driving force of what motivates me. I feel called to be a positive influence in society! Ainsley Time: For me it’s journaling, face masks, sketching, face time calls with my friends and Netflix girl’s night with my mom. How do you say SLAY as in sah-LAY as in the one and only Ce-lai West! Can we say this young lady is a 12 year old phenom and one who is breaking barriers within the modeling industry. Ms. West is not only one of the youngest supermodels to slay the runways and fashions of some of the greatest designers but she is also an Activist, Actress, CEO, Author and Runway Coach. She is a mentor to many both young an old and we are excited to chat it up with Celai. How old were you when you began modeling? I was three years old when I started but I didn't get signed with a talent agency until I was five and I started runway, around seven years old. Where did your inspiration come from and when did you decide modeling was something you wanted to be serious about? I'm not really sure where my inspiration came from, but when I did my first photoshoot, I was like "Oh my goodness, I want to do this til I die”. I really loved it. I just thought it was so much fun. That was also the first time I saw other kids doing it too, so I thought it was cool that there were other kids like me. But for runway, I have to say it definitely has to be when I walked at Madison Square Garden during NYFW.

Can you tell us about some of the shows, designers and experiences you have had? Well the first time I walked in NYFW, I was eight years old and I walked with the kids at Style Fashion Week for a few seasons. I also walked with adults for the first time, the same night. The video of me in the orange dress with the kids went viral. I was nine when I walked for Mario de LA Torre. It was really cool but I had to walk in some baby heels which was embarrassing, lol. The next time I walked with with Mario was in Palm Springs which was the first time I got to walk in heels. That is when David Tupaz saw me and later asked me to close his opening show in NYFW. I also had the opportunity to walk in the Howard Homecoming Fashion Show twice which was super cool since I want to go there when I grow up. I have walked for some really amazing designers and I can't wait to walk for more one day. What has been your biggest challenge in the industry? Umm, it would definitely be my hair because lots of hair stylists on set don't know how to do it or the companies don't really like kinky hair, only curly or straight. But I love my hair and I don't want to change it. What is the one thing you would love to do but have not had the opportunity? That would definitely have to be walking in an international show. I'm looking forward to that one day.

I started SGM with my parents as a way to provide a platform for others kids like myself who may not have thousands of followers but needed a way to display their talents and businesses on a positive and safe platform and Ive always been amazed by your confidence. You are a true Girlboss. Please tell us about your other endeavors, like your tshirt line and your book. So we would get asked a lot how parents can get their kids involved with kids runway and we realized that it depended on what their kid looked like. Since my mom got tired of typing the same response over and over, we just decided to write a book together. It's called The Parent's Guide to Kids Runway and The Parent's Guide to Kids Runway (for brown girls). It's an ebook and it's on my website. I also started my own t-shirt line, available at TheChattyChick.com, when I was seven years old because I wanted to help teach girls like me how to love their big hair and be proud of it. Later on, we decided to make tees for the whole family. Taking care of the planet is something that is important to me so we started planting a tree for each t-shirt sold. I am also a Texture Activist, Actress, Runway Coach, we make hair tutorials and my dad and I just started a web series called Lounging With Celai West where people can get to know me and my dad a little better. When you are not slaying the runway or working on your businesses, what do you like to do in your free time? I really love anime so I'm constantly reading and watching anime shows...and harassing my parents since I'm the only kid at home now. You have to be kidding me. I love Anime!! What advice would you give other aspiring young people who want to slay the runway like Celai? Like Celai Dos and a Celai Don'ts! I would say to make sure you DO walk with lots of confidence but DON'T outshine the garment!!!

is a 14 year old aspiring performer who has been dancing since the age of 4. She dances many different genres but her favorite styles are Contemporary, Hip-Hop, and Ballet. During the week, she trains at her home studio in New Jersey, Dance Exposure 2 and is also a part of their competition team.

Every Saturday, she travels into New York City to train at Brickhouse NYC with their Urban Contemporary Company, MiXrz. Kaitlyn also belongs to 34th and PHUNK, a Hip-Hop crew, who performed on the TV show, The Big Stage. This group also performed in The Hollywood Christmas Parade for the past 2 years in Los Angeles.
During her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys listening to music, reading, shopping, and hanging out with her friends and family. She is a Brand Ambassador for Sugarhaul, Sugar and Bruno, and of course, Sassy Girl Magazine. Kaitlyn loves spreading positivity and believes that you can accomplish so much more when you lift each other up instead of putting one another down. She is also a believer in being an upstander instead of a bystander. Kaitlyn enjoys being a positive role model to others, especially younger people.

How did you discover your love for baking? I will always hold dear to my heart the day my grandmother welcomed me to help her in the kitchen while she baked. I studied her every move. Sometimes, she gave me the spoon when she finished whipping up her cake batter. The batter was so yummy. I would lick it clean off the spoon. One day, I was finally brave enough to ask her if I could help. She responded, “Girl, you’re not going to burn down my house.” I didn’t give up and asked again. This time, she pulled up a chair and positioned it so that I could stand on it. She handed me a cup of milk and told me to pour it in slowly while she stirred the batter. I smiled at her and followed every instruction. At only three years old, it was the beginning of living my dream. From that point on, I never missed an opportunity to help her bake. I had discovered my true passion and by 11 years old I opened my first bakery. Do you have a mentor or someone teaching you how to master your craft? Having mentors that I can go to for advice is valuable. One of my mentors is my mother. She helps by teaching me the back end of my business. I’ve learned how to create different revenues and how to price my products so that I can make a profit. My granny, teaches me how to bake new pastry treats. Chef Kenna (Hell’s Kitchen Season 15) has taught me how to take my brand to another level and she also does a lot of life and business coaching making sure I’m mentally okay. Mario Armstrong (Never Settle Show), he keeps me motivated. Sharing business knowledge and making sure I am networking with other business-minded people. I love positive energy. Having a great group of people whose opinion I value saves me from stressful moments and helps me make great business decisions. Where do you see the Goddess Factory and Simone in five years? My goal is to continue inspiring more youth, through my nonprofit organization, Simone Bridges Inspires Inc. I want to continue my annual STREAMchella event to motivate kids and to help increase their educational awareness through S.T.R.E.A.M. S.T.R.E.A.M is science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics. I teach these academic principles using culinary methods and concepts. Additionally, my goal is also to continue to grow Goddess Food Factory by writing more books, expanding my product line and to do more speaking engagements.
What motivated you to start Simone Bridges Inspire Inc? Giving back to the community is very important. I understand that my life is BIGGER than me and that’s why I created Simone Bridges Inspires, Inc. Plus, I wanted an additional way to promote STREAM education and careers. My nonprofit organization has allowed me and local volunteers to visit schools and help them create STREAM clubs. The kids have so much fun learning in a hands-on and engaging way. I’ve conducted STREAM and healthy eating classes at several organizations as well. I teach kids how to ration how much sweets they can eat within a certain amount of time. Our “Get Healthy, Stay Healthy” program is always a big hit. It makes me happy to see kids gain more knowledge in STREAM and learn how to take care of their health. When the Chef hat comes off and you're not teaching or hosting, is there anything else Simone likes to do in her free time? My favorite past time is singing and cheering. I can sing all day long. I often sing while I’m baking. My favorite artists include Rhianna, Beyonce, and Fantasia. I also love to cheer. This school year, I made captain of the cheerleading team. What advice would you give other young entrepreneurs? My mantra is to Dream Big and Never Give Up. My parents have always taught me that I can achieve anything that I put my mind to and I truly believe that. My personal mission has always been to inspire and empower kids to learn more about STEM/STREAM education and careers. I use my platform to grow STREAM leaders so that we can be competitive globally. I encourage other kids to research STEM/STREAM careers and to think about jobs they may want in the future. I challenge them to think about how they can be a change agent in their communities and our country. What inspired you to start The Power of You Teens and what is the goal of the organization?

The Power of You Teens (POYT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mentoring and empowerment organization for girls ages 11-18, that was started in July 2014. We have served hundreds of girls in the Harlem Community. POYT was created in response to the many challenge’s teen girls of color face:
At the Power of You Teens we recognize powerful girls grow up to be secure and confident women setting the stage for their futures as innovative leaders. Currently our program is based in New York City. We would love to expand our PowerGirl Program by offering chapters nationwide.
Education Inequality – Girls who come from lowincome neighborhoods are often denied a highquality education. 1 in 6 girls will not graduate from high school. In school, girls of color are 2 to 6 more times likely to be suspended than other girls. Young women of color are disproportionality not afforded opportunities available to other girls. Like many girls, girls of color suffer sexual harassment and abuse at school, on the street and while dating. Rather than finding systems that provide protection, girls of color are likely to be criminalized or ignored for the trauma they’ve suffered. What are some of the activities and opportunities at POYT? We offer our PowerGirls extraordinary opportunities to break barriers! Our PowerGirls receive: Educational Programs and Field Trips Group and Individual Mentorship Community Service Program PowerGirl College Scholarships for High School Graduating Seniors Dance TeamFree Tutoring Program starts in the Fall

Brooklyn Beast, the dance trio from Brooklyn, New York started a dance group
dedicated to showcasing their Brooklyn Pride through dance. The girls met as
members of a commercial dance team in NYC. After car pooling for three years, they grew a close bond and started a group to show their artistry and love for their
borough. Brooklyn is culturally diverse and so is the group. The group members are Crystal Wu 17, Brianna Bailey 12 and Jailene Perez 16. They work together on choreography, concept videos and wardrobe.
Their goals are leveraging art to show what Brooklyn is all about. They've been
featured on Channels 12 News, NY Dance Parade, Five Karats Fashion Show and
they are just getting started. These talented young ladies look forward to getting back in the studio to create after the pandemic ends. So be on the lookout for what's to come with Brooklyn Beast!

Andreya is an 11 year from Queens, NY and even more proof that Girls CAN Do Anything! Her hobbies are Basketball, Softball, Drawing and playing video games with her sister and three brothers. SGM first met Andreya as a contestant in the “I AM” contest sponsored by AMF Youth Development a Non Profit Organization providing opportunities for inner city youth. Andreya was the only girl who entered to compete. When we asked, why she entered the contest, Andreya told us she thought it would be fun, a challenge and she wanted to compete with the others. Andreya did a wonderful job in the competition which made her the Ultimate Sassy Girl and we invited to be a part of our photoshoot and be featured. Great job Andreya and remember to Keep It Sassy!

Go Beyond 4 Youth is a Non Profit Organization that was started by Mrs. Bahiyjah Morrow-Rogers aka Ms. B 14 years ago. What started as her personal mission and commitment to helping youth achieve their personal, educational and financial goals and expanded over time as people noticed the work being done and the needs of others increased. At GB4Y, they provide mentoring, tutoring, build meaningful relationships and assist in the preparation of basic life skills through workshops and daily hands on experience. GB4Y is proudly comprised of civil servants, business owners and Community Activist dedicated to ensuring the success of young people. This program is currently funded through fundraisers and donations.
