Hardy'scharacteristicof"contributiontounderstanding"issimilarinthatitexploresnewideas, insight,anddifferentwaysoflookingatthetheory(Hardy,1973).ThelastsimilarityIfoundwas thesharedcharacteristicofgeneralityandscopeEllisstatesthatthebroaderthescopeofthetheory, thegreaterthesignificanceofthetheory(Ellis,1968).Similarly,Hardybelievesthemoregenerala theoryis;themoreusefulitis(Hardy,1973).
