Simulators Hydraulics Pneumatic Laboratory In this lab students of Marine Engineering develop knowledge and skills on mechanical thermic systems, power distribution of marine engines and automatic controls of electrical systems.
ARPA-Radar Simulator In this lab students study on all sort navigation conditions by using the ARPA-Radar Simulator (Automatic Radar Plotting Aids) system in accordance with the STCW and IMO regulations. Also, ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Unit) was integrated and synchronized to trainings of ARPA-Radar.
GMDSS Simulator GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) refers to Global Communication System on Maritime Dangers and Safety. Students are given training on maritime communication systems in accordance with the requirements of STCW and IMO model courses.
Engine Simulator In this lab it is aimed to train students on possible mechanical and electrical problems that may be encountered in Marine Engineering.
Lifeboat Training Platform In this lab it is aimed to provide mariners with practical training on ship evacuation, surviving in sea, rescue operations in sea, and first aid operations in accordance with STCW Convention.
Research and Training Ship M/Y TEAL M/Y TEAL “Research and Training Ship�; an indispensable factor of Faculty of Maritime Studies has been brought in 1994 for the framework of establishing the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the sister Near East University which is the only university possessing a Research and Training Ship in the island of Cyprus. Our Research and Training Ship is equipped accordingly for every water sport. Therefore, UOK and researchers from sister universities serve for all kinds of oceanographically, meteorological and hydrological researches besides local and foreign underwater archaeology researchers who are experts in their own fields. M/Y TEAL giving place for researches like environmental and marine pollution, continental shelf, bathymetric studies and freshwater bodies running through the sea also possess the qualifications keeping up with the developing technology.
Tanker Simulator In this lab it is aimed to train students on international safety regulations regarding tanker operations, international regulations on preventing sea pollution, ballast operations, tank cleaning facilities, gas free and shipload calculations under simulation conditions.

Life In Cyprus Have a dream about an island with glamour of foreseen civilizations and cultures throughout centuries. Have a dream about an island with a rich legacy of an affluent archaeology, history and culture. The good news is there is no need to dream about such an island since you will spend your time for education within that island. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a state of the northern part of the island of Cyprus which is in the eastern Mediterranean with a population of about 294.906 (2011). State has five cities with their unique beauty and glamour; Nicosia (the capital city of TRNC), Famagusta, Kyrenia, Morphou and Lefka with their must-seens as; St. Sophia Cathedral (Selimiye Mosque), the Abbey of Peace, Karpasia and etc. Our university offers several city tours for students in order to provide them a chance to discover the island which they will spend their time for education.

Facilities School of Aviation
School of Sailing and Water Sports
Department of Paragliding: Persons who wish to obtain a paragliding certificate must be over 18 years of age. Course participants are given theoretical courses and ground training for a week period and then carry out 7 flights during two days. Those who complete this course successfully are entitled to obtain a paragliding certificate.
Aim: Training youth who do like water sports and dedicated to protect sea life.
Department of Motor Hang-Glider: The participants of this course must be over 18 years of age. The participants are required to attend a 50 hours theoretical ground course and 25 hours flight training courses.
Laser class sailing courses: Participants must be at least 13 years old and over. These courses are given to those who do not have any sailing experience and are organized at any time of the year depending on the demands. After the trainees gain a certain level of experience, the courses are carried out in groups.
Department of Model Aircraft: The participants of this course must be 11 years of age or above. The participants firstly attend to the Beginners Course, which is on the basics of model aircraft course, and undertake a worskshop which is about 15 hours in total during 5 days, and upon copletion of this course, gain the right to be conferred upon a “beginners certificate�. Those who complete the course successfully may wish to make more progress on this training and can attend to courses of counselling and teaching, and in the following years can further attend to radio courses and gain the skills and experience of flying with gliders. Department of Aircraft: Students who attend the courses of Department of Aircraft can attend to flight programmes such as PPL, CPL and ATPL and upon successfully completion of both theoretical and 415 flight hours practical parts, can obtain flight certificates.
Trainings Optimist sailing courses: Participants must be between 6-12 years of age. These courses are arranged throughout summer and spring terms, out of school times.
Amateur Boat Operator Course: This course offers amateur boat operator licence and is based on both theoretical and practical trainings. The theoretical courses are given 5 days a week, in total 11 days, during evenings. This training is sufficient for taking the proficiency exam, however, those who wish to develop further experience can take sailing and boat operation courses. Trainings that are given in sea are carried out for 5 days and can be carried out any time depending on the weather conditions. The school organizes sailing and jet ski races, and yacht rally at national and international level within the scope of its aims and objectives.

• The “Seaman Health Convenience Report” is required for the admission to the Faculty of Maritime Studies. • In accordance with the health directive of the “Seaman Regulations” of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication of Republic of Turkey, the “Eligible to be a Seaman” Health Report is compulsory for admission to the following programs: Marine Transportation and Management Engineering (Deck), Marine Transportation Management, Marine Engineering Management, Marine Engineering. • Near East University Hospital (TRNC) is authorised by the General Directorate of Health for Borders and Coasts of the Ministry of Health (Republic of Turkey) to provide “Eligible to be a Seaman” Health Report. Q: Is Health Certificate needed for the admission to the Department of Pilotage?
• The “ CLASS-1” Health Report is required for the admission to the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, Department of Pilotage. • The aforementioned certificates are compulsory for the admission to the Faculties of University of Kyrenia. They must be obtained at hospitals accredited by the related organizations and institutions. The General Health Check-up Report The general health check-up report must be obtained and provided to the University of Kyrenia Admission Office during the admission process before arrival to the island. The general health check-up report can be obtained at any hospital
of student’s country of origin. The Admission Office will evaluate the candidate student’s health sufficiency for the relative department and will make the decision over admission accordingly.
