From 5th century AD, Swayambhunath Stupa is an ancient Buddhist temple site perched high on a hill, outskirts of Kathmandu City. The area surrounding the main stupa is filled with chaityas, temples, painted images of deities and numerous other religious objects of interest. There are many small shrines with statues of Tantric and shamanistic deities, prayer wheels for the Tibetan Buddhists, Shiva lingams and a popular Hindu temple dedicated to Harati Devi or Goddess of epidemics. Kalpa is a small village in the Sutlej river valley, above Reckong Peo in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, Northern India, in the Indian Himalaya. Inhabited by Kinnauri people and known for its apple orchards. Apples are a major cash-crop for the region. The local inhabitants follow a syncretism of Hinduism and Buddhism, and many temples in Kalpa are dedicated to both Hindu and Buddhist gods and goddesses. Kalpa, Himachal Pradesh Acrylics 30"x20"

A group of 16 temples with the main one dedicated to Lord Narayana (Shri Vishnu), is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. ADI BADRI is one of the famous Panch Badri. We discovered this place when taking a shortcut route to Ranikhet from Karnprayag in 2003. Such a beautiful place in a small village setting. One of the most beautiful gompas in the world, Thiksey Gompa (Thikse Monastery) 19 km east of Leh in Ladakh contains a 49 ft high beautiful statue of Maitreya. One of the largest monastery in the region and to appreciate its grandness one must see it from far away with backdrop of ladakhi mountains typical of its cold desert environment. The moanstery is situated at an height of 3600 mts.. It is a 12 storey structure originally founded in 1433 AD and many additions done later on. One of the Chardhams of Uttarakhand, Yamunotri is the shrine dedicated to river Goddess Yamuna. Situated in Uttarkashi district of Garhwal region at a height of 3293 mts., Yamunotri also has boiling hot water springs due to geothermal activity. Pilgrims boil rice and take it as prasad. The river Yamuna descends from Yamunotri peaks above it where Saptrishi kund, its original source is located fed by Champasar glacier. In Jaunsar Bawar region of Dehradun, there is an ancient place which as per folk tales was the site for Lakshagriha of Mahabharata times. Near the temple complex named Lakhamandal which also means one lakh shivlingas, people still find shivlingas whenever they dig for construction here. So there is a huge collection of Shivlingas kept here curated by ASI. There is one big Dharmraj shivling and another attraction is a shiny black granite shivling.
