63rd Pre-General Assembly August Meeting 2014
Social Program Package Maokong Dinner Banquet The New Era of Taiwan – Nature, Culture, and Tech As the glory of sun fades away, it’s time to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. As the twilight descends, our secret journey into the mountain is about to begin. Imagine yourself enjoying genuine Taiwanese cuisine and a cup of Taiwan’s most famous Iron Buddha tea with fellow participants, accompanied by the stunning panoramic view of Taipei. The 2014 Pre-GA invites all delegates to join the feast in Maokong, experiencing the natural beauty along with the local delicacies around the mountainside of Taipei.
The Maokong dinner banquet offers a ride on the Maokong gondola, a dinner banquet on the top of Maokong, as well as a short cultural experience of tea ceremony. Situated in the mountain area of Muzha in Taipei, Maokong is one of the major tea plantation regions. Over the years, it has become one of the popular getaways for the locals. A short trip to Maokong comprises an amazing sunset view from the cabin during the ride on Maokong gondola and a nice dinner on the mountain hill where the night view of Taipei is presented. The 2014 Pre-GA welcomes fellow participants to attend the Maokong dinner banquet, so as to immerse oneself in the natural, cultural, and technological aspects of Taiwan.
“Have a cup of tea, my dear friends!” Tasting some tea made by professionals sounds great, right? But it’s really not the case! Aren’t you curious about stories of tea? Have you got such great chance to make a foreign delicacy together with fellow participants? After a brief introduction and practice, we invite all of you to be the master of tea. Involve yourself in and make your own masterpiece! Come and enjoy the fantastic night view, the artistic tea ceremony, the authentic Taiwanese cuisine, and the tea cultural exploration in in the Maokong Dinner Banquet!

Delights of Taipei Night An amazing adventure to infinite and beyond! After an exhausting day of meeting, what could be better than a relaxing and interesting game? In order to let delegates enjoy the 2014 Pre-GA in Taiwan, we designed an RPG game to let the participants discover the most out of Taipei, the most prosperous city in Taiwan. This city also represents Taiwanese culture in many aspects such as food, architecture, and religion. Join in and follow our pace to explore this amazing city!
To embrace the hustle and bustle between the new and the old, we recommend our delegates to take the Mass Rapid Transit, an essential lifeline of Taipei. The MRT covers almost all directions in Taipei City, and also stretches to New Taipei City. The comfort of the travel is guaranteed since the MRT is a highquality transportation system recognized by international facilities.
Participants will be arranged into groups. All groups will gather at Taipei 101 to start the game. The second tallest building in the world, Taipei 101 contains shopping malls, restaurants, and offices of international corporations. Taipei 101 has two high-speed lifts, recognized by the Guinness World Records as the fastest elevators in the world. With a maximum speed of 60.6 kilometers per hour, the lifts take just 40 seconds to travel from ground level to the 89th floor. Taipei 101 is designed to withstand the typhoon winds and earthquake tremors common in Taiwan. With the largest tuned mass damper atop the building, designers aimed for a structure that could withstand gale winds of 60 meters per second and the strongest earthquakes likely to occur in a 2,500 year cycle.
In this RPG game, participants will go to designated places and follow instructions to complete a mission. Each completed mission adds a score to the team. For example, you might go to Ningxia Night Market and have a taste of Taiwanese local refreshments. Additionally, you can see exquisite technical arts or special traditional games in the night market.
Participants also have the chance to take part in Taiwanese traditional believes and appreciate the old temples. Lungshan Temple is famous for its fabulous decorations. The front of its fore hall is covered with stone carvings made by dark green granites and black andesites, which immediately gives visitors a beautiful impression of color combination at the first glance. Lungshan Temple always keeps its nature as a Buddhist temple, but in the course of its development, many deities of Taoism were also included. The variety of deities in this temple shows the tolerant mentality of Taiwanese people in their religious life.
At the end of the game, every group needs to arrive at the destination, Xiangshan, which means Elephant Mountain in Chinese because it is a mountain with an elephant-like appearance. Participants can enjoy a romantic night view on the mountain. The group with the highest score will win an extraordinary prize, so go for the championship with your group members and enjoy your trip! Want to explore the fascinating Taipei’s night? Want to find out what to do other than partying at night? Want to discover some secret scenic spots that only local people know? Take part in the “Delights in Taipei Night” and you will discover more than you ever expected!
