Consistent exercise and a good diet are keys to a long and healthy life. Obesity puts a lot of strain on their overall health and most importantly, their joints. You’d never guess that I … go to Banjo Camp in the summers. Yes, my technicians pick on me for this. My favorite surgical procedure is … a complicated fracture requiring multiple methods of fixation and ingenuity. Sometimes, more routine procedures become boring, where these bring unique twists to our week. The newest addition to my family is … Eli, a 9-week-old Deutsch Kurzhaar. He is absolutely keeping me and my wife on our toes! An upcoming improvement to our practice is … A new logo and website. We are very excited for this, so keep your eyes open. My favorite day of the week is … Monday. It is our office “cheat” day, and we order cheeseburgers and french fries. I mean, we all know calories don’t count on Mondays, right?

He’s a therapy dog that works with our local hospitals to visit and support their patients. He’s also an epileptic that suffers from seizures. We recently worked with LivaNova to implant an electrical device to help control his seizures. The Vagal Nerve Stimulator works like a pacemaker for the brain. It sends an electrical signal through his vagal nerve to help control and stop his seizures when they happen. Our new project is … Heel!, which is a mobile app. Pet parents can download Heel! onto their mobile phones. It allows them to set reminders to give medications, to go for walks, to give belly rubs— basically anything their pets need. And, the veterinary professionals who support those pets can access and change the prescriptions, which ensures the pet parent always has current prescription information. It also allows the pet parent to request medication refills from the vet’s office directly through the app.

I became interested in veterinary medicine … at a young age by watching “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” and “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.” One recent innovation in the treatment of cancer in dogs and cats that we now offer in Savannah is... electrochemotherapy. During the treatment, chemotherapy is injected into a tumor or along an incision line after surgery. Then, an electrical current is applied to the area using a special probe. The current opens pores in the cancer cells, allowing the chemotherapy to travel inside to kill the cell. The treatment is minimally
invasive, and I’m excited by the promising results I’ve seen. I keep my own pets healthy by … feeding them an approved, well-established commercial dog food. Having my own dog with food allergies and a sensitive stomach, I know the importance of monitoring what they eat. When I’m not in the office, I … am playing tennis, cheering on my kids or tracking down hard-to-find bourbons. You’d never guess that I … played college soccer at Washington and Lee University. A common and preventable pet ailment is … dental disease.
PET-LESS HOUSE CHECKS | PROFESSIONAL PET CARE
I wish more of my patients’ owners would … realize the importance of dental health. Because of the fear of anesthesia, most well-meaning pet owners avoid routine professional teeth cleanings. However, even mild dental disease has a significant impact on your pet’s quality of life and longevity.
Keeping Savannah pets happy since 2000!
You owe it to your pet to … have their teeth professionally cleaned early in the process, before gingivitis progresses into periodontal disease. One recent innovation in animal medicine is … easily attainable advanced dentistry. We provide a wide range of dental services for your dog and cat, including endodontics (root canals), restorations (crowns), oral surgery (fractured tooth repair) and periodontics (gum disease treatment). However, with more frequent teeth cleaning, these advanced procedures hopefully should never be necessary. 130
