Semi-advanced t ree plant ing holes are to be the same dept h as the rootball and 2-3 ti mes it s diamet er, wit h the top of t he root ball being at grade. Planting holes are not to be excavated using an auger unless the edges of the hole are later broken up using a spade or similar. The use of augers can smoot h the side of the hole and lead to root girdling.

Plants shall be thoroughly soaked through immersion in water prior to plant ing and if the planting soil is very dry t hen t he plant ing hole is also to be f illed with water and allowed to drain completely.

Supply and spread evenly a soi l mix comprising of 50% washed sand, 40% Hydrocell flakes, and 10% composed organic m at ter. Compact light ly and evenly in 150mm layers.
