ELIMINATING SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN

OUR FUNDING NEEDS SPEAK FOR HER. ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS RAISING CAMPAIGN IN THE FRAMEWORK OF EVERY LAST CHILD

GOAL To contribute to the prevention of sexual violence against girls and adolescents by identifying risk factors in schools and communities, and carrying out preventive actions with families and community members, in coordination with protection and health services. EVERY LAST GIRL. ACCESS TO EDUCATION FOR PREGNANT GIRLS AND ADOLESCENTS

INVESTMENT 160,000 USD

EDUCATION FOR EMPOWERMENT: BUILDING LIFE-SKILLS AND CREATING LIVELIHOODS OPPORTUNITIES FOR MARGINALIZED YOUTH THROUGH EDUCATION

?

WHY? In Peru 15% of girls aged 15- 19 years old have been pregnant. Eight out of 10 pregnant teenagers drop out of school, making it 25% of dropouts, and despite No. 29600 Law that promotes reintegration in case of pregnancy.

?

Pregnancy and motherhood in adolescents has a severe impact on their development and health and is closely related to poverty, exclusion and inequalities. It affects their rights to health, education and autonomy, limiting their opportunities and potential in life, and risks reproducing cycles of poverty and exclusion.

WHY? In Peru, 22% of adolescents and young people between 14 and 24 years old do not work or study because of the lack of opportunities. High unemployment and school dropout rates among young men and women can be directly linked to poverty, poor quality of education and lack of training to join the labor market. About 300,000 children and adolescents are out of school, which puts them in a situation of total vulnerability. It is estimated that 42% of young Peruvians will never have access to a stable job.

GOAL To ensure access to quality and safe education for pregnant girls and adolescents, and young mothers, in the most vulnerable communities located in the highlands and the jungle.
