Large: Pieces G1-G4 and Contrast Pocket (pages 1216). Medium: Pieces H1-H2 (page 17-18) and Challkcloth Patch (page 13). Small: Piece J. (page 19).

1. Pin and sew bias tape to right side of curved pocket. Use 1/4” seam allowance.

2. Turn bias tape to wrong side. Press and topstitch 3/8” from edge.

3. Turn contrast pocket bottom and side edges under 1/4”. Pin on wrong side of main fabric, aligning the top edges.

quilted wine bag instructions

Cut all pieces according to pattern instructions. To made a solid outer wine bag, cut the outer fabric the same as the inner bag piece and skip to step 6. Pieces A through D may be “pieced” as in the cover photo where pattern piece B is “pieced” together with 4 different fabrics but the finished strip was the size of pattern piece B. Use a 1/2” seam allowance unless otherwise indicated. Pattern pieces: A, B, C, D, E1, E2, F, Casing. Use ribbon, rope or bias tape for the tie. Pattern found on pages 8-13

1. Pin and sew bottom of piece A together with top of piece B, right sides together. When complete, piece B will be below piece A.

2. Lay piece C right sides up (top of fabric at top) with piece A/B on top right side down. Sew along edge where bottom of B & top of C meet.

3. Lay piece D right sides together with piece A/B/C so that the top is aligned with the top of piece A and the bottom aligned with bottom of piece C. Pin and sew.

4. Lay wrong side of this new panel on top of batting (piece E). Using a basting (long) stitch, sew around the outer edges to hold in place.

5. Quilt the panel. Option 1: Hide stitches by sewing “in the ditch”. Sew along the seams between the pieces. Your new stitches will be mostly hidden. Option 2 (above): use contrast thread to stitch 1/8” next to ditch.

6. Fold in half, right sides together (piece D will not be folded). Sew along the edge of D to make a tube.

7. Baste piece F batting to piece F main fabric with right side facing up.

8. Pin F to quilted tube bottom so right sides are facing.

You may need to clip the end of the tube in 1/4” snips around the base in order to properly fit the bottom. Sew.

6

9. Pin lining F right sides together as you did in step 6. Then pin to lining E at the bottom of the tube as in step 8. Right sides together. Sew

10. Fold casing long edges in 1/2” toward the wrong side. Press. Pin casing to right side of quilted piece. Pin in place just above piece B. Fold the ends of the casing under. Ends should meet.

11. Edgestitch 1/8” from top and bottom of casing all the way around the tube. There will be an opening for your ribbon where the casing ends meet in the middle.

12. Place tubes inside one another, right sides together. Sew top edges together, leaving a 3” hole for turning.

13. Turn right side out. Press the top seam. Edgestitch 1/8” from top.

14. Insert ribbon, rope or bias tape into casing using a safety pin to work the ribbon all the way around the casing.
