all about kilkenny food, hospitality and artisan producers Savour Kilkenny is now in it’s 6th year. Taking place over the October Bank Holiday weekend, a wonderfully atmospheric time of year for food-lovers’ when we dip back into the recipe books for comfort food to share in darkening Autumnal evenings with family and friends. It’s a festival with a true community heart run by a voluntary committee of Kilkenny people who are passionate about food. Growing it, making it, cooking it, sharing it and eating it – all will be celebrated this year in a rainbow programme. Yours Ger Mullally Chairperson

“Taking Back Our Food – Avoiding a delicious disaster!”

How we can regain control of the food we eat? And re-establish a sustainable relationship with the land? We are living through an era when we are being bombarded with food from all over the world, in all sorts of combinations. The average supermarket carries thousands of different processed product lines. It is time to take back control of our food chain to avoid a “delicious disaster”…which will leave a very bad taste… This is a day where food professionals (chefs, producers) mix with foodies (journalists, bloggers, consumers) and agency heads (Bord Bia, Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Fáilte Ireland) and through 24 speaking sessions learn and share with each other. Enjoy this free event and bring your lunch and enough to share with others! Chaired by John Mc Kenna. All are welcome to attend but places are limited. Please register on-line at www.savourkilkenny.com Friday October 26th – 9am to 2pm at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.

EMBRACING SUSTAINABILITY FOR COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE WORKSHOP.

Paul & Theresa Doyle – Tess’s Bakery Tess’s Bakery was opened in 2005, by chef of 25 years Paul Doyle and his wife Theresa, who has over 14 years experience in the baking industry. The bakery provides the county with fantastic traditional produce such as soda and three seed loafs as well as tarts, crumbles and sponges. The key attractions for the Doyle’s products are that they are yeast, sugar and preservative free. The baking is done so under great care, using only quality ingredients in the old style traditional way. Tess’s Bakery – 73 B Hebron Industrial Estate, Kilkenny.

Design goat

National Craft Gallery | Fri 25th Oct 2012, 6.30pm Dublin based Product Designers DesignGoat discuss their ‘Eating Objects’ project; a design exploration of food, molecular gastronomy and eating experiences. Using food as a material they have created a series of food ‘products’ that would be constructed by the diner in a restaurant. Using the processes and techniques of molecular gastronomy to form food in new ways, they intend to control different tastes, colours and textures; thus challenging peoples pre-conceptions towards food and the habits they have grown up with. | Booking required: call 056 7796147 or email events@nationalcraftgallery.ie
