Virtual closet DIY Workshop
on organizing tips + tricks with Jill Paitchel June 18th, 2020
Virtual closet DIY Workshop Recap:
1. The number one rule of organizing is to put like items together. Dresses with dresses, pants with pants, shoes with shoes, boots with boots…you get the idea 2. Have a Give Away Box near you to collect items you want to donate. Usually, I say move the box to your car and when you’re out running errand you can drop them off at the donation location. Since many of these locations are closed at this time I suggest moving them to your garage, basement, or any other out of the way spot.
3. Hangers – What kind of hangers do you use? I recommend the black velvet hangers because they're slim, keep clothes on the hangers and work for dresses, pants, blouses, suits, and coats. Using the same hanger style gives your closet a clean and streamlined look.

4. Scarves – I’ve recently learned a new fun way to organize scarves...take a shower or curtain ring, put one scarf through each and attach the rings on a hanger bar. If you have extra shower curtain rings laying around at home, no purchase is required. 5. Shoes – A single or multi-level shoe shelf is a great way to keep your shoes organized. Shoes for other seasons can be stored in clear, labeled shoes boxes and kept in your closet.
6. Jewelry – If you have space in your closet a good way to store jewelry is to install hooks or a wall-mounted accessory holder. These keep your everyday jewelry visible, organized and near your wardrobe.
