With a busy and active work and personal life, how do you ensure that you schedule family time with your children?
Being a mom of teens, all of which who have busy schedules, how do you prioritize and instill family values?
Juggling schedules can be difficult, but for me, I don’t feel balanced without enough family time. Having an overloaded schedule the past few years because of commuting every week from L.A. to N.Y., I decided to take The View off my plate so I could dedicate more time to my family. I do my very best to not schedule anything work related on the weekends now, which allows me to be there for my boys hockey games, church, family dinners and more. Also, my husband and I set aside time through the week to sit down with each other over lunch or coffee to connect.
I believe we instilled most of those values when our kids were in their younger years. Now as teens, I can see that they know family is always a priority, not because it has to be, but because they want it to be. We have always aimed to spend quality time with one another often. On Sundays, we turn our cellphones off, go to church, and have dinner together that often includes family and friends. We’ve been blessed that my husband has always coached my boys hockey teams in some form, so the time they get together is tremendous as well as my daughter pursuing a career in entertainment which gives me a lot of one on one time with her. Our kids actually love being at home, which is surprising at times, when they choose us over friends. I believe it is because my husband and I put in that work when they were younger and they have come to appreciate a lot of the values that we taught them.
How do you celebrate Mother's Day with your family? My family and I go to church and then get together with my mom and dad and brother and sisters if they are in town. It's usually an extended family affair. We celebrate over good food and conversation. My favorite thing about Mother's Day is when my kids write me a card or note. It was adorable when they were younger, but now as teenagers, their words are very precious to me.

What is something that you have taught your children, that has now become their inner voice? I hope that we have taught our children that family comes first. We stick up for one another, we have each other’s backs and we support and encourage each other. Sometimes that can be a difficult thing in the teen years with siblings, especially if they are close in age. Whether it is with sports or friendships they often share those experiences and it can become competitive between them. A friend of one may become the boyfriend or girlfriend of another sibling. That can become tricky but there always has to be understanding and compromise. Another thing I have taught my kids is to listen to their inner voice, seeking true conviction. As a Christian, I believe that inner voice is the Holy Spirit convicting the heart between right and wrong. I want my kids to trust that voice instead of the voice of the heart which can often deceive us. Nevertheless, when decisions are made that are not in their best interest (which will inevitably happen) my husband and I have always taught them that although there will be consequences, it will always be followed by grace.
"I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TEEN YEARS. THERE ARE ALWAYS CHALLENGES BUT I LOVE SEEING WHO MY CHILDREN ARE GROWING INTO, THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT THEY ARE BECOMING AND THE WAY THEY VIEW THE WORLD"
What advice would you give moms who have teens? Take deep breaths often. Things can become heated, especially when there are disagreements. I know my "inner teen" attitude wants to come out sometimes. I remind myself that I am the adult and to not go back and forth in those verbal battles. I would also say, enjoy it! I absolutely love the teen years. There are always challenges but I love seeing who my children are growing into, the men and women that they are becoming and the way they view the world. Very soon they will be out of the house, so enjoy these years while they are at home, and continue to take the time to pour into them and encourage them as much as possible.
Is there anything you are coveting this mother's day? I honestly don’t have anything tangible that I am looking forward to. We recently moved into our new home that we have been working on for 2 years. What I am coveting is a day in our new house all together. I am looking forward to time with my husband and children. Of course I would love to hear some sweet words they have to say to me and receive impromptu hugs and kisses. It means more and more to me as they get older.
"WHAT I AM COVETING IS A DAY IN OUR NEW HOUSE ALL TOGETHER. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TIME WITH MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN."

I AM COVETING THE PANDORA FLOATING HEART LOCKET, SURROUNDED BY SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL GLASS. THIS LOCKET WILL BE A GREAT HOME TO A NEW COLLECTION OF MEMORIES AND SPECIAL TOKENS TO KEEP MY LOVED ONES CLOSE TO MY HEART.
P
Our PANDORA adventure began when I received a bracelet from my daughters for Mother’s day with one heart charm flying solo in the centre. My daughters were clear, this was the beginning of a journey! They assured me that one day my bracelet would be filled with charms that they had personally selected for each birthday and to commemorate each special occasion. This year, I have added the Radiant Hearts of PANDORA enamel bracelet to my accessory collection. This piece quickly became one of my favorites. The hearts inside the enamel represent myself, wearing my heart on my sleeve on a daily basis, and reminding myself to always act with empathy and to always let love in. This gorgeous piece accents any combination, from business casual, to a night out with my girlfriends. As Mother's Day soon approaches, I will be visiting my nearest PANDORA store with my daughters to scout out our favorite pieces. The chosen items will be especially meaningful because they are always hand selected with my girls. My girls are my gems, and this year to celebrate Mother's day, I am coveting the PANDORA Floating Heart Locket, surrounded by sapphire crystal glass. This locket will be a great home to a new collection of memories and special tokens to keep my loved ones close to my heart. But this journey is not over. Now a trusted brand in my own home, I know that PANDORA jewellery will help me hallmark every special occasion to come, and the journey has only just begun.
