2020 SLD BUSINESS RESOURCE MEETING RECAP
A Virtual Experience The Southern Leadership Division was tasked with developing a program that would focus on effective leadership, successful change management and diversity, equity and inclusion. The annual 2020 SLD Business Resource Meeting, scheduled to be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, did just that by tackling some of the most important topics in the industry today…virtually on November 10th. Risha Grant, founder and CEO of Risha Grant LLC, an award-winning diversity consulting and communications firm, encouraged the 175+ attendees to express their experiences that influence biases, while giving them easily applicable tools to dig deeper and push through stereotyping and assumption. In addition to Risha, Terry McKenna, founder of Employee Performance Strategies Inc. (EPS), discussed fundamental leadership precepts that never
change, in addition to those new leadership responsibilities that are created when the world changes. Marty Howell, The Southern’s President, also shared with the group his insights on the industry and leadership qualities. Immediately following Terry McKenna’s presentation, we split up into virtual groups to conduct our Industry Roundtable Discussion. This popular session allowed attendees to get together in an informal setting to discuss issues related to the industry or a specific business process while sharing best practices. We wrapped up the meeting with a Virtual Cocktail party, where attendees were broken into small groups and given a series of questions to ask each other. This fun, interactive session was a great way to cap the engaging event.
