Clermont Terrace Brighton | BN1 6SH

Seller Insight When we first saw this house in 1982 we loved that it was so bright and sunny, the height of the ceilings and the quirky things like the stained glass window in the WC and the blue glass in the bathroom. It was easy to see its potential. Since then we’ve made it into a proper family home. It’s very private here yet also very sociable, it’s a great party house. The layout is very fluid and versatile and as we’ve grown as a family we’ve changed it to suit our needs over the years. Being near to the train station is great, and we’ve got plenty of great schools within walking distance. Dorothy Stringer School was named as one of the best state secondary schools in the UK by Tatler magazine earlier this year and our children sometimes used to walk home for lunch from there in plenty of time. We’ll really miss the garden it’s very pretty and relaxing to spend time in, and our grandchildren love to come and play there. The house itself is just so convenient. It’s great if you’re commuting to London and also convenient to walk down to the sea. We’re in a sheltered spot with no –one directly opposite us, and it’s lovely to have a park practically on your doorstep. We’ll really miss the natural light and the size of the rooms. We’ve grown so used to having such a large amount of space. The house has been ideal for us, it’s served us well.” * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. Arranged over three floors, an incredibly versatile and easy flowing layout sits behind a classic Victorian façade retaining the grace and elegance that you would expect from a house of this era. Ground Floor A tall sash bay window in the sitting room ensures a lovely amount of natural light tumbles in, highlighting one of the many distinguished period fireplaces that feature throughout this family home. Looking out onto the tall euphorbia and orange blossom of the front garden, its elegant period features continue in the adjacent dining room whose open fireplace provides an instant focal point and a cosy welcoming feel. Upstairs Four equally well-presented bedrooms feature throughout the easy flowing layout of the upper two floors of this spacious family home, all offering ample versatility and dual space potential. On the first floor, the commodious proportions of a master bedroom create an instant wow factor that’s hard to ignore. Currently configured as a main reception room, magnificently tall sash bay windows beautifully highlight the period cornicing that encompasses the high ceiling, echoing the sense of space that flows throughout each floor. A sultry charcoal grey chimney breast features a further period fireplace and complements the dark wood floor. Sitting directly above this impressive room, a large double bedroom continues the sense of space and flow of natural light with its own sash bay windows and additional tall sash window. Offering far reaching views over the treetops and across the city, this peaceful top floor room creates a calm and relaxing feel with its deep blue walls and crisp white woodwork. Two further double bedrooms create ideal family accommodation and whilst one features an eye-catching blue tiled fireplace the other looks out over the attractive rear garden. A family bathroom continues the sympathetic interior design of the home with its heritage grey walls, roll top bath and brass Beaumont taps. Benefiting from a walk-in shower, deep chimney breast cupboards provide ample storage, while demi-glazed stained glass doors open onto a conservatory. A stained glass window in the adjacent WC reminds you once again of the charm and character of this Victorian house. A large loft space creates the opportunity to extend this three storey home. Downstairs Accessed from the ground floor hallway, a large cellar, with reduced head height, offers a wealth of space for storage and an ideal spot to house your wine collection.
