Maintained emergency lights are always on, which doubles up as a building’s primary lighting supply and is linked to a chargeable battery. The light will remain on at all times but when the power is lost from the mains the battery will take over to keep the light visible.
NON MAINTAINED
Non maintained emergency lights are designed to switch on when the building’s main power is lost. The light is linked to a battery and to the building’s lighting circuitry, which makes sure the battery is always charged. These lights remain off whilst the mains powers is working properly and will only turn on when the power is lost.
MAINTAINED SELF TEST
Self testing emergency lighting checks itself automatically to ensure the battery and lamp in each emergency lights is fully operational. If a problem is detected by the self-test the system will display and visual warning and sound an audible warning. The self test feature replaces the manual test carried out annually.
