May 30 - June 1, 2012

oNE OF FiVe Oslo is one of the top five global maritime capitals, shoulder-to-shoulder with Singapore and London, Hamburg and Hong Kong. But nowhere in the world has a maritime cluster as complete as that of Oslo. Oslo Maritime Week makes this more visible by highlighting the area’s leading competence within finance, law, insurance and other maritime services.

IN Oslo, it’s maritime all the time Oslo Maritime Week takes place every other year, alternating with the years during which Nor-Shipping is held. A key collaborative partner, Nor-Shipping is expanding its support of the industry. The synergies created by these alternating and interconnected events build a powerful momentum for enhancing the international profile of the Oslo region in the maritime industry.

OMW Cocktail Party & Dinner Good food + good drink + industry colleagues = OMW’s Cocktail Party & Dinner. All delegates are invited to attend the festivities at the popular Bølgen & Moi restaurant’s Tjuvholmen location on Thursday, May 31st. “This event is a great opportunity to network across competence areas – lawyers talking to designers, financial analysts getting to know insurers and so on. Some of the best professional relationships begin outside of traditional meeting rooms,” says Odd Torset, Oslo Maritime Week’s Project Manager.

Drinks will be served from 17:00, followed by a mix-and-mingle buffet dinner at 18:00 and a cash bar from 20:00. Guests should expect an interesting event – the restaurant promises a “special experience inspired by the interplay between food, wine and art”.

WISTA LeaderShip Award 2012 The evening will also include the presentation of the award from Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA), an organization for women at management level in the maritime industry. The recipient of the award for 2012 is Secretary-General of YoungShip International, Birgit Liodden. The award will be presented by Rikke Lind, the newly appointed Norwegian Sea Rescue Secretary General. Previous recipients were Elisabeth Grieg, Ellen Forland, Gunvor Ulstein, Marita Scott, Borgny Eidesvik and Rikke Lind.
