Seventh Annual Notre Dame Club of Memphis Speaker Series: 2018 @ St. Benedict High School Free & Open to Public! Everyone is Welcome! 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM including Q & A

July 30: “Insights into the Catholic Family” Khira (SBA graduate Class of 1999) and Derek Rotty, St Mary’s Parish in Jackson, TN Discover how Natural Family Planning becomes the center piece of The Catholic Family, influencing the decisions couples make and how they teach their children! Derek and Khira are uniquely qualified to discuss how Natural Family Planning becomes the center piece of The Catholic Family. Derek and Khira bring more than two decades of combined experience raising children and ministering to teens. Using their experience, they share how parents and adult ministers can teach young people about the gift of the human body and its development. Children and teens need to learn from early ages how boys and girls are different; how their bodies are ordered toward sacred life; and how to care appropriately for the gift entrusted to them. Khira & Derek Rotty have been married for 12 years. They are the blessed parents of five children, one saint in heaven & four saint-makers here on earth. Khira has ten years experience working with high school youth, and she is in the process of completing her certification from the Theology of the Body Institute. She is also in the process of reducing the mounds & mounds of dirty laundry in their house. Derek has Master's degrees in History & Theology. He has worked in parish ministry for more than a decade, and he is in the process of publishing his first book. He is the happy beneficiary of the clean laundry that Khira provides. They both love the outdoors, especially hiking trips & beach trips with their children. Visit the Rottys at: http://thelifeofvirtue.blogspot.com/

Lumen Civitatis is delighted to announce our next Speaker Series event with Father Peter John Cameron, O.P., the evening of Monday, September 10, St. Louis Catholic Church. Father Cameron’s presentation will be titled "The Role of Ongoing Conversion in the Life of Faith” and will reference three paintings by Caravaggio: * The Conversion of Saint Paul * Conversion on the Way to Damascus, and *The Calling of Saint Matthew Father Cameron was one of two keynotes at the 2014 Magnificat Day of Joy in Memphis. To this day many continue to be deeply impacted by his outstanding preaching on the “Wellspring of Holiness” and the short dramatic production of "The Woman at the Well" that accompanied it. Father Cameron served as Editor-in-Chief of the monthly Magnificat publication in the United States from its initial publication in 1998 until recently, when he was assigned by his superior to serve as Director of Formation and Ecclesial Liaison for Hard as Nails ministries, while also continuing his ministry in leading three day parish missions. In early October, following the talk in Memphis, Father Cameron will speak at the 2018 Magnificat Day of Thanksgiving which will be held in Brooklyn, New York.
