LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION FOR GRDS 10-12
LAPTOPS for students in grades 10, 11, 12 are ready for pick-up. Please see schedule below for pick-up date/time for each class. We understand individual schedules will not allow all to attend on the specific day, so we do have alternate dates available. To enable our IT staff to deploy these devices in an orderly manner, we ask that you please attend only on the date/time that is assigned for your class. Because this is a grade-level rollout, for families with multiple children, we ask that you come on July 27 or July 30 if you want to pick up for all of your children at one time. July 23; 10:00 am - Noon Laptop pick-up for students enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP) Class July 24; Noon - 2:00 pm Seniors Class July 25; Noon - 2:00 pm Junior Class July 26; Noon - 2:00 pm Sophomore Class July 27; 8:00 am - Noon Make up pick up day July 30; 8:00 am - Noon Make up pick up day When picking up your laptop: 1. Please print the attached Acceptable User Agreement and have it signed/completed with the exception of SERIAL # - IT office will fill in SERIAL # 2. Enter on the day/time of your scheduled pick-up through the Rotunda and proceed to the IT Help Desk 3. Please do not ask to come early or on a different date/time. 4. Parents are welcome to accompany, but if unable, we will issue your child's laptop as long as the attached form is signed. Either student or parent can pick-up laptop with the signed acceptable use policy form. If students don’t get their laptops this week, they will be available at SOAR. 5. We are not able to issue laptops to anyone other than the student it is assigned to, so please do not ask to pick up for a friend.
Textbook Information St. Benedict utilizes MBS Direct as our official textbook partner. The primary format is digital, utilizing downloaded ebooks and online textbooks. However, some books will be purchased at the beginning of the school year (iBook downloads and workbooks). Also, some classes will have no textbook required. If a hard copy is preferred instead of, or in addition to, ebooks, the ISBNs are available on request from Mary Sutton, textbook coordinator, at textbooks@sbaeagles.org. Course listings will be emailed to all registered students, and the MBS bookstore will be open on June 25. Final schedules will be emailed during the first week of August. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: • •
Many, but not all, books are purchased through MBS Direct. Books and/or classroom materials that are not available for purchase through MBS Direct are listed under iBooks Downloads and Textbooks/Workbooks. On the MBS website you will see these listed as "Materials Available from Instructor" for these books. Your student will purchase/receive these books the first week of school. o iBooks Download: An iTunes account will be needed with money loaded. Click here to see courses and prices. o Textbooks/Workbooks: School supplied Textbooks and workbooks, along with course fees, will be billed through FACTS. Click here to see courses and prices.
FRESHMEN AND TRANSFER STUDENTS: You can purchase your books anytime but do not download digital books until you have your MacBook. We will help you download them the first week of school. Sophomores who purchased Our Moral Life in Christ as a freshman will not need to repurchase the book; it is an iBook and should still be your iTunes account. If the book was not purchased as a freshman, you can purchase it through MBS ($12.00) or iBooks ($26.00). MBS purchases To purchase your books through MBS, you can access our portal on MBS's website by clicking here. There you will find information related to ordering books and customer loyalty advantages. When setting up your MBS account, it is preferable to use your student SBA email address and a password that he/she will remember. The same user ID and password is needed for the VitalSource material (free app) to be downloaded to your student's laptop.
