PRODUCTION – THIS WEEK – March 30,31, April 1 & 2 Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 7:00 pm (Ticket office opens at 6 pm and doors open at 6:30 pm)
Sunday Matinee at 2:30 pm (Ticket office opens at 1:30 pm and doors open at 2 pm) “Be careful what you wish for” seems to be the ongoing theme in the legendary Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Brothers Grimm inspired musical, Into the Woods, one of the most acclaimed and beloved in all of musical theatre (adapted a few years ago into a Walt Disney movie starring Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, among many others). St. Benedict at Auburndale is proud to present this masterpiece, both classic and modern, hilarious and heartbreaking, in its interpretation of familiar fairy tales. The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to go the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood Witch, who reveals to them that she placed a curse on their family, the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. Also in the woods, we meet Little Red, who is trying to visit her grandmother, the Wolf who loves tasty little girls, the Witch’s daughter Rapunzel, and the Princes chasing after their loves. By the end of Act I, everyone has gotten their wish and will seemingly live happily ever after. But in Act II, when Jack’s beanstalk brings them a visit from an angry Giant, we see how the consequences of their actions haunt them in disastrous ways. The community must come together to save each other and their kingdom, but sacrifices must be made. SBA is attempting a unique and daring new approach to this oft-produced musical that promises to be unlike any other version you’ve ever seen. With a cast of thirty performances, original choreography (in a show that sometimes doesn’t have any) and a scenic concept that embraces the timelessness of storytelling and lesson-learning, this Into the Woods is sure to make you listen, wish, think and feel.

SBA Project Graduation 2017
Dear St. Benedict at Auburndale Parents: Friday, May 12, 2017 is Graduation for St. Benedict Seniors. A tradition for the St. Benedict seniors is a drug and alcohol free “lock-in” given by the senior parents. Over 95% of our seniors participate each year and they have a wonderful time. We rent out Incredible Pizza and they have unlimited play time, as well as unlimited pizza, drinks and snacks. Whether your child loves go-karts, bowling, putt-putt, laser tag or lots of video games-there is something for everyone. Each child receives a goodie bag as well as super door prizes that have included 32-inch flat screen TV’s, Microwaves and Gift Cards to name a few. It will also be the last time they will all be together as a group.
Ticket price is $175. We need to have reservations in by April 3rd so that we can order the items that the students receive in their “goodie bag.” We are looking for parents of freshmen, sophomores and juniors to get involved with Project Graduation to keep this wonderful tradition going in order that the future years maintain the success level we have experienced. If you have underclassmen, please contact the project chair for volunteer opportunities. Also, we encourage you to consider co-chairing Project Graduation next year. On behalf of St. Benedict Project Graduation, we appreciate your help. Donations are tax deductible and we would also like to offer our sponsors complimentary notice in our SBA Annual Report. Again, thank you for your support of this important event. SENIOR PARENTS, BE SURE TO SEND IN YOUR STUDENT’S RESERVATION AND PAYMENT NOW! Sincerely, Amy Iovinelli
