The H Street Corridor is a dynamic neighborhood, full of energy and vitality, and The Atlas House, is a response to this context, a new urban landmark that celebrates the spirit of the place while providing a new vision for contemporary urban living.
The building's design is based on the concept of "hedonistic sustainability," which means that it is both ecologically responsible and simultaneously luxurious and pleasurable to inhabit The glass top floors perched on a stone plinth create a striking visual contrast that is both dramatic and elegant The solar shades that wrap around the building provide shade and privacy, while also creating a distinctive pattern that gives the building its own unique character
The elevated courtyard and terrace offer a beautiful oasis in the heart of the city, where residents can relax and enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape The co-working space, gym, and bike repair shop are all amenities that respond to the needs of the modern urban dweller, providing a place to work, exercise, and store transportation suited best to explore the city The building's residential floors are spacious and airy, with lofted units that provide a sense of openness and lightness The inset of the second floor creates the illusion that the upper floors are floating above the ground, adding a playful element to the building's design
The Atlas House is a new urban icon that reflects the energy and vitality of the H Street Corridor. It is a building that is both sustainable and luxurious, responding to the needs of the modern urban dweller while also celebrating the culture and spirit of city living
THE LOFTS AT NORTH HOWARD, A CONCEPTUAL URBAN INFILL PROJECT, REQUIRED SELECTING AND CATERING TO A SPECIFIC GROUP OF POTENTIAL HOMEOWNERS THE CONCEPT MUST REVOLVE AROUND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN PRINCIPLES AND STANDARDS.
THE LOFTS WELCOME YOUNG PROFESSIONALS, BUSINESS OWNERS, AND FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYERS TO LIVE WITHIN THE HEART OF BALTIMORE, OFFERING WALKABLE ACCESS TO JOBS, SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY SERVICES, LOCAL BUSINESSES, AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
WITH A MODERN INDUSTRIAL AESTHETIC, THE LOFTS AT NORTH HOWARD PAY HOMAGE TO BALTIMORE’S HISTORY WHILE BRINGING A FRESH LOOK TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD FOUR TYPES OF UNITS ARE AVAILABLE BASED ON INCOME, SQUARE FOOTAGE, AND HOUSEHOLD SIZE THE CONDOS FEATURE LARGE SPANNING WINDOWS, PLENTY OF DAYLIGHTING, AND PRIVATE BALCONIES. RESIDENCES ARE LOCATED ON FLOORS 2-5 AND STOREFRONTS ARE ON THE GROUND FLOOR REVENUE FROM COMMERCIAL SPACES WILL ELIMINATE HOA FEES AND FUND BUILDING MAINTENANCE.

DESIGN NARRATIVE: TWO HALVES, LIGHT AND DARK, BOUND TOGETHER BY A SPINE OF CIRCULATION. WEAVING IN AND OUT OF SHADOWS, THE CURTAIN OF LIGHT BECOMES THE THRESHOLD THAT SEPARATES SPACE AS YOU MOVE TOWARDS THE LIGHT, YOU SENSE THE SPACE EXPANDING. MOVING TOWARD THE DARK THE SPACE BEGINS TO TIGHTEN. THIS DICHOTOMY CAN BE READ FROM THE EXTERIOR, THROUGH THE STRATEGIC USE OF MATERIALS. THEY ARE SELECTED TO HIGHLIGHT THE CONTRAST- ING MASSES. ONE SIDE IS HEAVY AND SOLID, AND THE OTHER IS OPEN AND AIRY. MOVEMENT THROUGH THE SPACE JOINS THE LIGHT AND DARK, BRINGING THE CONCEPT TO LIFE.
THROUGH A PRECEDENT ANALYSIS PROCESS, I DESIGNED AN INFILL FAÇADE FOR A VERTICAL SURFACE OF A BUILDING IN CONTEXT LOCATED IN GEORGETOWN, D.C. THE FAÇADE DRAWS FROM THE LOCAL ARCHITECTURE, FEATURING HEAVY USE OF BRICK AND ARCHWAYS

THE ARTIST STUDIO GREENHOUSE, DESIGNED PER A CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION PROJECT, IS A SPACE UNDER 600 SQUARE FEET WITH A HALF BATH AND 8-FOOTWIDE BI-FOLDING GLASS PANEL DOORS. IT IS AN IDEAL OFFICE FOR A HORTICULTURIST OR FLORIST TO CULTIVATE, ORCHESTRATE, AND OPERATE THEIR PLANT ARTISTRY.
THE BUILDING INCORPORATES SOLAR POSITIONING, THERMAL MASS, AND STRATEGICALLY PLACED FENESTRATION FOR VENTILATION AND COOLING IN THE SUMMER THE GREENHOUSE, WOOD-BURNING FIREPLACE, AND OPTIMIZED INSULATION ARE UTILIZED FOR ALTERNATIVE HEATING SOURCES THIS PASSIVE HOUSE DESIGN ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL HEATING OR COOLING SYSTEMS, RESULTING IN ENERGY CONSERVATION

HOTEL BREXTON IS A HISTORIC QUEEN ANNE VICTORIAN BUILDING IN BALTIMORE MD IT WAS DESIGNED BY ARCHITECT CHARLES CASSELL AND BUILT IN 1881 FOR SAMUEL WYMAN, A NOTEWORTHY MERCHANT . DUE TO ITS ATYPICAL TRIANGULAR FOOTPRINT AND DETAILED BRICKWORK, IT WAS SELECTED BY MYSELF AS THE SUBJECT FOR A HAND RENDERING STUDY
