Strictly MK - Saturday 26th / Sunday 27th October 2013 at Bury Farm Esquestrian Village What is Strictly MK 2013 and Why it is Vitally Important that YOU are involved? We are very proud that Strictly MK is the first of its kind in this area. The recent surge of interest across the nation in Ballroom and Latin dancing is largely attributed to the hugely successful BBC1 television show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. This show has been followed by successful dance tours and more recently wonderful Charity events across the country. We are excited that with your help, it is now the turn of Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire! We are already attracting extensive support from a variety of local people to include major corporate business, retail, schools and celebrities in our region. We unashamedly seek your kind sponsorship as Strictly MK 2013 seeks to provide fabulous entertainment, whilst raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes. Macmillan Cancer Support rely massively on voluntary donations as this makes up 99% of their total income. Willen Hospice meanwhile, receive just 23% of their income from the NHS and are forced to raise the remaining 77% of their income themselves. It is important that we all try to do something to help raise the vital funds. Hundreds of thousands of pounds are urgently needed to continue to pay for the valuable nurses, doctors, therapists, specialists and advisers, needed to treat the thousands of people diagnosed each year with cancer and/or terminal illness, in Buckinghamshire alone.

When is Strictly MK taking place? The main Strictly MK dance competition is booked to take place on the evening of Saturday 26 October 2013. In addition, a Junior Strictly MK competition will take place the following day on Sunday 27 October. We are excited that primary schools across Buckinghamshire and parts of Bedfordshire, focusing on Milton Keynes, will compete against each other for the first ever Junior Strictly MK 2013 title!

Who are the main organisers of Strictly MK? We are made up of a team of highly skilled individuals who are all committed to giving up our time and resources to make Strictly MK 2013 the success it deserves to be for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Willen Hospice. We are led by Accursio Romeo and Lindsey Inchbald. Accursio Romeo is a Professional Ballroom and Latin dance champion and owner/director of the JustDance School in Milton Keynes. Accursio has a first class dance pedigree and is currently ranked 4th in the United Kingdom Professional Ballroom. From the age of 15 years he has competed around the world as representative for England. He is often invited to perform and judge at major dance championships, competitions and dance schools across the UK and Europe. He teaches students at all levels, in workshops, lectures and private lessons to include fellow professional competition dancers. Accursio’s home town is Milton Keynes and he is a keen supporter of both Macmillan Cancer Support and the Willen Hospice . We are delighted that Accursio has agreed to oversee all the dancing, choreography and musical direction for Strictly MK 2013. His personal contacts and dancing pedigree ensure that all the professional dancers and judges on the night will be top drawer. Lindsey Inchbald is the owner/director of Inchbald Interiors and her home town is Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire. Whilst Lindsey is a successful business woman in her own right, she is also an experienced Charity event organiser with a proven track record, running high profile successful fundraising events, historically at the Sculpture Gallery, Woburn Abbey Bedfordshire. Lindsey’s last 3 major fundraising

events have raised just under £90,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Lindsey sadly lost her own dear Mother to cancer only last year and now feels that she has gone full circle. Lindsey’s mother, Maureen, eventually past away in the Willen Hospice. Lindsey has first hand experience therefore, not just of the sheer effort involved in Charity fundraising, but also, and more significantly, the role that both Macmillan Cancer Support and the Willen Hospice play, helping ordinary families like her own, when faced with fighting cancer. Who is our target audience? Strictly MK is targeted at the population of Buckinghamshire/Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire. We expect the evening of Saturday 26th October 2013 to be supported not just by celebrities and professional Ballroom and Latin champion dancers, but also by local dignitaries and individuals with a high public profile in our area (many of whom have already committed their time and support to our event). We expect a sell out audience on the night of 1200 with a waiting list. We fully expect our audience to want to travel in to Milton Keynes from outside the area to come and watch this exciting live dance competition. In contrast, but quite separately, the Junior Strictly MK title will be competed for on Sunday 27th October by primary schools across Milton Keynes and parts of Buckinghamshire/Bedfordshire. Junior Strictly MK 2013 ensures the participation of lots of young people during the day and their schools, teacher’s parents and supporters. We fully expect the weekend of 26/27 October 2013 when Strictly MK takes place to be exciting, glamorous, star studded, family entertainment… Quite literally the talk of the town!

The Strictly MK 2013 Format Strictly MK 2013 has the potential to be a local phenomenon which we hope to make into an annual event, with an extremely large target market and audience. Always with the overall goal of raising vital funds for Charity within the community. Our format is already well established and been tried and tested successfully across the country. We are delighted that our MC on the night is top TV, Radio and Sky Sport presenter/broadcaster, Andrew Castle. We are delighted that Andrew has agreed to be our MC as he is not only a first class professional television presenter/radio broadcaster, but he also has first hand experience of the ‘Strictly’ format. Andrew bravely accepted the challenge a few seasons ago, of competing as a celebrity dancer on the popular BBC1 television show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partnered with Olla Jordan. He has said it was a life changing experience, never to be forgotten! 14 dancing couples will go head to head on the dance floor to compete for votes. Our ‘celebrity’ dancers must have a large profile in the local area. He/She will be partnered with an extremely talented semi professional/professional dancer. We would expect our celebrity dancers to have no previous dance experience and will provide light hearted video evidence of training sessions leading into the competition for the audience to view on the night to show individual progression. Each couple will have 8 weeks training twice a week leading into the competition to perfect dance routines to a cha cha and a waltz. Finalists only will perform a free style number. Finalists will be determined by audience telephone voting on the night combined with a panel of celebrity judges. The couple crowned winners of Strictly MK 2013 will be decided solely by audience votes. Our audience will also be treated on the night to two show dances performed by professional dance champions, to include Accursio Romeo and his dance partner, currently ranked 4th in UK Professional Ballroom.
