The School: Founded in 1869, StoneleighBurnham School is an independent school for girls. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Stoneleigh-Burnham supports 135 boarding and day students in grades 7-12 from across the country and around the world. Twenty-eight faculty and staff members hold advanced degrees. The average class size is 12 students with a student to faculty ratio of 6:1. Our Mission: Stoneleigh-Burnham School is an academic community that fosters an international perspective. We inspire girls to pursue meaningful lives based on honor, respect and intellectual curiosity. Each student is challenged to discover her best self and graduate with confidence to think independently and act ethically, secure in the knowledge that her voice will be heard.
Our Programs: Stoneleigh-Burnham ensures our students graduate with the ability to draw connections across disciplines and be active, compassionate, and lifelong learners. The IB diploma programme affords Stoneleigh-Burnham the opportunity to provide an interdisciplinary curriculum and apply international assessment standards to students’ academic success. Our Curriculum: Graduation requirements include 20 credits with the following course distribution:
Arts: 2 trimesters of visual or performing arts
English: 4 years required
History: 3 years required including US History and 1 year of IB History; 4 years recommended
Mathematics: 4 years required
Science: 3 years required including 2 years of lab science; 4 years recommended
Foreign Languages: 3 years of French or Spanish required; 4 years recommended

Grading: Grading at Stoneleigh-Burnham follows a traditional A-F descending order pattern with the following numerical correspondents: A: 90-100, B: 8089, C: 70-79, D: 60-69, F Below 60, P: Pass, F: Fail. D(60) is the lowest passing grade. Grades are unweighted. Stoneleigh-Burnham does not establish class rank or report GPA on transcripts but can provide if needed.
