Deliberately designed and intentionally small, our academic community offers all the necessary resources and encouragement to incubate an international perspective within our student body. Stoneleigh Burnham follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, a liberal arts course of study which fosters interdisciplinary connections. As an IB student, you will develop an increased understanding of globally significant ideas and issues, languages and cultures, and approach learning with an international mindset.

The power of a n education is a universal truth.

At SBS, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are not merely words. We do this work every day. At the heart of our mission is ensuring that every student’s voice is heard. That can only happen when the collective goal of a school is to help every member of our community feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered to thrive.

point of view

Stoneleigh-Burnham has a lengthy legacy of success in training students in the art of public speaking and debate, deliberately emphasizing these skills across all grade levels. As such, you can recognize our students and our graduates by their ability to use their unique voices to articulate their opinions clearly. The authentic and clear expression of ideas is a hallmark of an effective leader; our signature program, VOICE 10, is a sophomore year certificate program dedicated to the development of this ability. VOICE 10 is offered in conjunction with our standard sophomore year curriculum, and focuses on rhetoric, cognitive skills, and identity development. The combination will prepare you for the advanced challenges of engaging in abstract thought and advocating for yourself and others.

moments

Our small size ensures that each and every student is truly known, and the friendships made here are genuine and continue long past graduation. You’ll not find a divide between day, boarding or international students; rather, our students are more in tune with each other and the ways in which we share commonalities. Middle and Upper School students gather together for school meetings, performances and athletic contests, and celebrate together during annual traditions like Mountain Day. Each and every Stoneleigh-Burnham student has the chance to both have a role model and be a role model. In the words of Megan Murphy, Executive Director of the International Coalition of Girls’ School, “Girls’ schools don’t just offer equal opportunity, but every opportunity.”

Be who you are meant to be.
