BIBLE Ways to memorize Bible verses: 1. Read the verse out loud from the page or from the Bible. 2. Understand the verse by reading the illustrative Bible story underneath and looking at the biblical scene on the left side. Explain any big words. 3. Repeat the verse again. 4. Review the verse several times throughout the rest of the week.

Note: The Bible reference can be more challenging to remember than the verse, so repeat the reference before and after the verse.

The Bible says: Elijah was God’s prophet. He once met some men who did not believe in God. Instead they worshiped a statue that was not even alive. Elijah knew God was real and wanted them to see that. He prayed to God to light up Elijah’s pile of wood. God sent fire from the heavens and it burst into flames. Elijah called on God and He certainly answered. (1 Kings 18:28-39)
