Distribution trucks
SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
Keeping your supply chain flowing
Rational confidence Whether your business is road transport or depends on road transport, you probably see trucks in purely rational terms. Scania trucks are all about ensuring the lowest possible cost of operation. In multiple pick-up and drop-off situations, premium-quality Scania distribution vehicles deliver uptime and productivity that can be measured in reduced costs per kilometre over the entire service life of the vehicles.
The link you can trust Lasting quality costs more to build, but pays off over time. This long-term saving stems directly from the Scania hallmarks of legendary reliability, outstanding fuel economy and exceptional driveability. In practical terms, that means you get a durable vehicle with excellent fuel economy and environmental performance that meets Euro 5 and EEV standards. And drivers love Scania’s distinctive handling. Call it ease of use, manoeuvrability or smoothness – it’s everything that makes it easy to simply step on-board and drive off with confidence.

Why Scania owners love their trucks
Quality yields uptime yields productivity
Just add diesel
When investing in new trucks you want to be confident that your fleet will benefit from lower total operating cost, for many years to come. We can promise this confidence because comprehensive surveys of existing customers show long ownership cycles and very low warranty costs – strong indicators of reliability and satisfaction. Feedback from these operators also makes it clear that they appreciate the fuel efficiency of these premium vehicles. And finally, a quality truck that’s built to last will achieve stronger residual values – a real advantage when it is time to purchase new vehicles. In short, your investment for the long-term definitely pays off.
We also work to control and limit environmental impact with technical solutions that help your bottom line. All our inline engines are equipped with Scania EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) technology. Scania EGR enables compliance with Euro 5 and voluntary EEV (enhanced environmentally-friendly vehicle) standards. This means you meet the most stringent emission levels established by the European Community without diminishing exemplary fuel economy. And it’s convenient and simple for drivers: no need to spend time filling up with additives. Just add diesel!

Why Scania drivers love their trucks
Drivers often meet customers face-to-face, so they are a natural part of your company’s profile. That’s why we believe in building comfortable and attractive vehicles that strongly appeal to drivers and help them to stay relaxed on the job. In fact, many transport companies tell us they invest in Scania trucks precisely in order to attract qualified drivers. Driveability, manoeuvrability, visibility
Good driveability is the positive synergy that arises when superb ergonomics and control meet powerful torque and turning ability. Superior visibility is also prioritised. Scania trucks are noted for offering exceptional all-round visibility. Large windscreens with low-placed, wide-angle and close-up mirrors enhance vision along the sides of the vehicle – a critical factor in busy urban areas and heavy traffic. Optional reverse and side view cameras are available to extend the driver’s field of vision.
Comfort and climate
A selection of seats is available to suit drivers of all sizes. These incorporate air suspension and integrated seatbelts. A wide range of adjustments to the seat and steering column make it possible to find exactly the right position for relaxed driving. Fully automatic climate control can be specified and the air conditioning unit is so powerful that a complete exchange of air in the largest cab takes less than 50 seconds. Ultimately, Scania trucks attract skilled drivers who drive safely, economically and take care of vehicles and goods – another example of how Scania contributes to better long-term economy.

SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
Cabs for busy distribution drivers
Scania cabs form an immensely strong structure. Developed through extensive dynamic and static testing of heavy front and rear impacts, they meet the Swedish standards, which are among the toughest in the world. Scania offers an extensive range of trucks in the P-, G- and R-series. This will accommodate your needs for various body mounting heights and positions. The new high-roof P Highline cab features easy entry combined with excellent interior space. To make driving as pleasurable, safe and productive as possible we offer: • Quick and easy entry and exit in multi-drop situations with wider steps and ergonomic handrails. • High-quality fittings, interior and driving environment typical to all Scania cabs. • Air-suspended driver seat and ergonomic dashboard and controls. • Fully adjustable steering column that can be moved to the upright position and a gear lever that folds to the floor to create more room.
• Generous storage close to the driver’s seat and preparation for personal electronics like mobile phones, mp3 players and portable PCs. • Optional fold-down passenger seat creates a useful table. • Durable, high-quality materials that are easyto-clean and stand up well to the heavy daily wear of drivers frequently leaving and entering the cab. • Exceptional aerodynamics and air-management that significantly improve fuel economy and help keep vehicles cleaner. • Air-conditioning that is adapted to the needs of the distribution business, where cab doors are frequently opened and closed. A complete air exchange in the largest cab takes less than 50 seconds. Fully automatic climate control can be specified.
A fully equipped P short cab The short P cab is just as well equipped as all other Scania cabs. If the maximum cube space for high volume loads is your top priority, it’s good to know that the cargo length will be maximised for a given wheelbase. A spacious P day cab The Scania P day cab is all about interior space. Extra room behind the seats offers handy storage for large personal items, yet keeps them out of sight. Optional resting equipment can be supplied to add greater functionality and comfort. A comfortable P sleeper cab When it’s time for a break the Scania P sleeper cab provides relaxing accommodation with a full-size bed that enables both long-distance and local distribution to be accomplished effectively and comfortably. Generous storage is available with lockers above the windscreen and under the bed. The new P Highline cab features a raised roof that adds even greater interior volume and storage, while also allowing the driver to stand upright. Low-entry P cab with cross-cab access On certain routes, a distribution driver might enter and exit the cab more than 100 times in one day, so this process has to be easy. That’s why Scania low-entry models feature kerbside kneeling functionality, broad and low steps, and a door that opens to 90 degrees with ergonomically shaped grab handles. Inside there is a cross-cab access and plenty of room so that even long-legged drivers easily find a comfortable driving position. The low-entry cab can be specified with seating for up to four crew members. In the low-entry cab, the driver also enjoys unmatched forward visibility.
SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
Cutting-edge technology, razor-sharp performance
Scania engines and powertrains provide the uptime and efficiency you need for today’s competitive distribution environment. You can choose from a complete range of five- and sixcylinder Euro 5 engines. We can also offer engines that meet the tough EEV-standards. Potent acceleration and smooth cruising
Our unique modular combustion concept was developed to optimise the balance between high torque, fuel economy and low emissions. Scania leadership in engine development and manufacturing is evident in the ability to fulfill the Euro 5 emission requirements on all inline engines using EGR. A significant advantage of EGR is that it works 100% of the time, which is a benefit for vehicles operating predominantly in urban areas.
Putting less in, getting more out
The combination of several breakthroughs now offer unprecedented performance and economy. Scania XPI (extra-high pressure injection) operates well beyond conventional injection pressures to allow more precise combustion. Injection timing is completely independent of camshaft position and injection pressure can be set irrespective of engine speed. The seamless synergy of Scania XPI and Scania EGR is immediately apparent: better fuel economy, higher torque, enhanced driveability, less noise and increased uptime. The new variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) enhances performance and economy, while also limiting emissions. This is possible because the boost pressure is optimally regulated regardless of engine load. Scania VGT features an infinitely variable flow of recirculation gases for extra control over emissions.
Scania inline 9-litre engines Proven combustion efficiency in a new configuration. For multi-drop routes around town these compact 9-litre engines are more than a match for the task and bring you great fuel economy. The five-cylinder format gives you all the operational benefits of the Scania modular combustion concept with lower output engines operating at peak efficiency and well within emission limits. Available to comply with Euro 4, Euro 5 and EEV standards with outputs from 230 to 320 hp. Scania inline 12- and 13-litre engines There are good reasons to want more power for some applications. For instance, your trucks may consistently carry heavy loads. Or your routes may feature fast roads and steep inclines. Then, of course, there are tight schedules and customers that demand precise deliveries. If all this sounds familiar, then these inline six-cylinder engines are the answer. Available to comply with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards with outputs from 340 to 420 hp.

Transmissions that get the power down – across town and on the open highway
Scania’s numerous powertrain options provide plenty of choices for extracting superb performance and economy from your fleet. These transmissions are light and compact. Shifting is smoother and quicker, and maintenance is minimal. Our selection starts with a 6-speed lightweight model for multi-drop and urban applications and extends all the way to a 12-speed rangesplitter and single-reduction tag-axle bogies. For the ultimate in driving ease, we also offer a fully automatic transmission as well as Scania Opticruise automated gearchanging. Scania Opticruise makes an excellent choice for distribution because it reduces the need for constant shifting, which helps drivers to better concentrate on the road and traffic. Scania Opticruise is also a good alternative for drivers who change vehicles from day to day. Scania distribution trucks feature superior low-speed manoeuvrability for safer, more relaxed low-speed handling without the need to engage a separate crawler gear. All engines and gearboxes offer PTO options that feature easy control and stable running.
