The Scania Irizar i4 Combining design with practicality As the latest addition to the Scania Irizar range, the i4 has been designed to appeal to passengers, operators and drivers alike. In common with every Scania Irizar coach, safety in operation is the top priority for the i4. As such, its strong steel monocoque construction meets or exceeds existing and pending requirements, including the revised R66.01 rollover regulations, to better protect both passengers and drivers. Convenience is another important factor, and as the i4 shares many components with other models in the Scania Irizar range, parts availability will be high and downtime low. This enhanced modularity extends beyond the chassis and driveline; bodywork choices include three different floor levels, a variety of door configurations, wheelchair lift, and luggage capacity options to suit the needs of the operation in hand. Available in a choice of 12.2- or 12.9metre overall length with an overall height of 3.4-metres, the Scania Irizar i4 can accommodate from 49 to 59 seats.
The vehicle's streamlined aerodynamic exterior is matched by its comfortable and refined interior. Coach-grade climatecontrol changes the total air volume in seconds, and by creating an increase in airpressure throughout the interior and luggage compartment, the ingress of dust and airborne particles is minimised. One of the world's best selling coaches The Scania Irizar Century provides a flexible vehicle platform which can be tailored to precise requirements to optimise performance, driveability, capacity and passenger comfort. Available in either two- or three-axle format in lengths from 12- to 13.7-metres, the vehicle has an overall height of 3.5-
metres. It can also be specified to comply with DDA schedule 1 and 3, with a choice of a front- or side-mounted wheelchair lift. The Scania Irizar Century boasts an attractive, aerodynamic design with a deep windscreen and a range of practical and eye-catching features, such as optional Xenon dipped beam headlights, low set fog lights and easily accessible rear lamps.
With convenience in operation in mind, the luggage compartment is accessible from both sides and the hatches are opened from the drivers seat. Inside, the vehicle has one of the quickest, most effective air-conditioning systems available, which meets its 25º Celsius target in half the time of a competitor. And to make sure it's up the job no matter what, it's been proven in trials in the Mexican desert and north of the Arctic Circle! For personal comfort, separate service panels provide each passenger with an individual reading lamp and air vent with adjustable controls for fresh or chilled air.
